for those who owns an sp,wanna ask u guys wherethe by using k&n airfilter better for sp bike or by using original sp airbox?

cuz,i took out the airbox n fix the k&n airfilter, the mushroom shape airfilter..

found out,got oni the "garang" sound wen i rev but for the performance wise, kinda find it abit quite thesluggish to pick up..

bought from a bro from sbf saying dat by using dis, air passes tru direct n without restriction straight to the airfilter n passes tru..issit true?

but some of my frens ask me to use back my ori airbox n drill some holes to it saying dat it will be more better n worthit..

can any bro help?

I used a similar pod filter on my kips b4. Sound very garang, whole blk can hear 1. Pickup can feel improved abit, but top end suffered. Consumed alot of petrol also and attracted unwanted attention. I went back to using e airbox..

put air filter....but without restricition...

hee...

hope he knows the purpose of a air filter is...

the restriction wise is suppose to be lesser...thus allowing more air to pass..

thats y it is used as a racing air filter...

fer smaller bikes...the only advantage that is present wif using this kind of filters is that u only need to clean them during ur servicing...no need to change...

i think if u never mod ur bike alot...using the orginal ones will prove to be essential enough fer u to feel more power...

hope this helps!

:goodluck:

Ok with normal airbox, I can drag my bike up to 180km/h. On last gear at 6.5rpm, my speed was about 120km/h.. with the airfilter, it's actually between 110-115km/h. I did not tried top speed, because the vibration was also alot stronger. So obviously, top-end speed affected lah.. that plus the noise, vibration and high FC = no, no!

If u want to use an airfilter, u must really make sure ur bike is tuned properly to handle it. If not, juz use normal airbox.

u can be like me, remove the stock airbox cover, put the k&n filter panel, and glue it to ur airbox, leaving the stock part(the top) away from ur airbox.. alternatively.. for SP u can just remove the rubber @ ur airbox will do..

Both also can.. A airbox contains a constant supply of air flow when ur carb demand it. When u tamper with the airbox (derestricted) or change to a pod filter, you are changing the amount of air supply. More air means you will tend to lean out thus the sluggish feeling and the suffering of top end. Be it open pod filter or airbox, what every u do, you need to retune the A/F mixture.

from what i understand, using the powerfilter is for more air at higher revs, so low revs is sacrficed.

if using airbox, the air is aredi kept in the box so u can use ur low rev more easier. but at high rev it may not be enoug air, depending on ur settings (carburettor, etc).

but dats from my limited knowledge bro.

neways how much u buy the k&n? is it from ahboy or is it original one?
