as a guide, 100ml should last you around 1000-1500km.

my scottoiler of 500ml last me 5years..manual oiling every 500km and best part is the chain is still stock since new and running smooth, and rim squeaky clean..

seriously manual oiling is not difficult cause fazer has main stand, IMHO it beats all the spray chain lub, scottoiler kit avail in the market.

same oil that you use, scottoiler, it just that i dont use the kit, i manually spin the wheel and oil the chain at every 500km.

There is nothing wrong with using scottoiler auto-oiler kit but a certain amount of wastage is a definite and getting the rims all mess with the oil is also almost certain.

I dont understand how you get your hand dirty?

You can pour into those small container, something like those singer oil bottle with a pointed dispenser, and turn your wheel while you slowly drip the oil on the links between the chains.

it can be done, i used to do that kinda of riding too, started touring in 1996 with kawasaki 750 L1, 1000 km a day is normal..it just whether you want to do it or not, it all about discipline, other than that it all excuses...:D...of course more work to be done but to me is worth it as it keeps my bike clean...:D

That why you have changed to the MAX with shaft driven mechanism and later future a Harley for the belt drive..... Logical calculation from me rite? OH! Do not forget the Black FZ you have too in your collections of big boy's toy.

oh... i mean my colleague use to buy cheap EO and pour it onto a cloth and lub the chain with the cloth! hence it can last so long... hence, i said his hands gets dirty...

anyway, your method not bad... worth the try... :thumb:

Washing and proper cleaning is strongly encouraged. The washing clear away those grimes and dirt that sticks on you chain.

You can use degreasers to clean the chain links and parts. But ALWAYS remember not to use anything too strong that kills you O rings within the links. Wash with fresh water thorough & make sure no degreaser residue on the chain. Apply back the proper chain oil or wax to protect and lucbricate the chain & links.

Strong degreaser may cause 'makan' on the O ring and some may give you the MAX clean with dry O ring then which may crack later.

Just my way of cleaning and oiling of chain.

Heard from my mec some time back that 1 fazer broke down in thailand as the bike could not start. They could not rectify whats wrong with the bike so no choice have to tow back to sg. Onli then they found out one of the scott oiler pipe connecting to the engine part burst or stuck (i forgot pai say). Thats why the bike cannot start.
