it's different from voltmeter... voltmeter tell you how many volts is available in your battery as well as the usage as well as if its charging or not, something like that right? battery indicator directly tell u wad is the level of your battery is left...

basically there is 2 types... comfort indicator & comfort indicator eyelet... i got the 1st one from limbat but yet to install...

i believe u gona mount it onto the dash panel or handlebar or sumting like tat rite for the comfort indicator instead of shoving it underseat (indicator eyelet)...?

This is a photoshop take on the "gen 3", i tink.

Well, there's talk about taking the latest R1 cross-plank engine and retuning it for the "Gen3". The head fairing with those R2 lights...etc. All talk now, i suppose.

Anyway, i wonder a average joe like me can feel the difference between cross-plank, narrow plank, rainbow plank...etc.

Just give me a good engine, a good riding posture, good this, good that, can liao, but most important, good price. haha...

Yap... Found this photo on the web...

Most likely, Photoshop at its best. Its too hybrid.

IMO only, strictly.

It's a neither here nor there & you love it or hate it design..... i call it half pail sh!t design. With the R1 head cowl and tail, FZ has lost it's original taste of Street look. Look closely, the mirrors, the tissue box exhaust Ride height and posture.....etc betray the look and are parts of the destructive 'ingredients' that kills the fiercesome look when they try very hard to make fierce the FZ, although it is only a Photoshoped picture.

The current FZ1 has already having this problem. Want to go fast it can, but less the uber power of a sport breed. Want to ride real comfy, the half pail sh!t bloom stick bar and height can't let you seat nicely in a comfy touring posture. Want to 'pee chia' your arms postured like chicken wings and tight wrist turning on the throttle.

Two critical factors which seems always haunting each another. Look versus user friendly... to have killer look, rider need to accomodate the riding posture, meaning back breaking experience if to go long distance but this give the sharp handling and look.

To ride comfortably, the killer look and sharp handling factors will be lessen.

Difficult to find a bike each can let riders to have the best of both. :sian:

Give me a cross plane 09 R1 engine (no detune pls), toughened frame work (if not the raw force may crack the frame in no time), better riding posture and less vibration and i am content.... surely there is a price to pay la... by then i maybe retire from the Yammy scene liao... maybe my daughter can benefit from it.

IMO + Half.

That is more in line wit current line of sportbike.

Gen3 FZ1 has to be fierce in body design.

It must protruded the killer aura to inspire the bystander.

The flagship of Yamaha's sport tourer has to incorporate the fiercest look in body design.

Gen3 FZ1 engine needs to perform closer to current R1 standard.

Cross-plane design form M1 is like god send. Tks to MotoGP.

Torque of Vtwin and power of inline combined into one.

This engine design is ideal for sport tourer, to overcome the extra wind resistance due to the bulbous nature associated with taller windscreen and some unwelcome side boxes.

Sport Tourer, means SPORT type kind of touring. Thus riding position has to be as sporty as possible.

No matter how, Yamaha chief engineer will incorporate sportiness into Gen3 FZ1.

The degree of sporty riding position will very much depends on the crossplane's tuned engine.

If logic is to prevail. I will be seeing a more sporty riding position on the Gen3 over Gen2.

There are no two ways about it. Higher speed capability on Gen3 require more sporty and capable rider to handle the Gen3. (The current Gen2 riding position and geometry may be passed to future FZ8.) Hence with the sporty rider position provided, non pro riders will soon learned, to appreciate the concept, and enjoy the sportiness package with a naked designed.

As for retired sportbike riders. They shu enjoy the Gen3 wit less complain then the non pro rider.

Most important economic consideration on the Gen3 upgrade is:

Price below s$20k OTR w/o ins, to expand our local fans.

Looking forward for a affordable sporty Gen3 FZ1.

yup, the eyelet is easier to install...

the one with dash panel is for those bros who like to look nice... hahaha... :D for me, i got the one with dash panel, gonna install it into my dash panel... :)

basically, there is 3 lights, red, amber and green... it works like traffic lights like that, green = healthy... amber = time to charge... red? of cus warning lo... hehehehe... :p eyelet one has jus the 3 lights but no indication on wad does it means... dash panel one have everything to explain to you in layman term... :)

previously we are talking abt batt charger... and yes, it mean this... :)

pricing wise... i would suggest you get it from limbat... :)

yup... ultimate safety precaution... recommend to vanselle too... hahaha! cheers! :D

Hi bro, thanks for the clarification. :)

I got a question though, with the voltmeter measuring the battery when the engine is not on(bike is not charging the battery), isnt that the voltmeter already measuring the life of the battery?

Thanks!

no bro... the charger includes the charging extension but it doesn't have any battery indicator to tell u how is the battery level... the eyelet or the dash board is additional devices which also can charge while telling u the battery level... :)

i guess i'm going to install it perhaps next week or the following... will let you know... :)

voltmeter doesn't tell u the life of the battery i suppose... it only tell u how much voltage is presently available as well as charging effect or not... i guess... :)

LOL..You know i know...

LOL. I know, so I'll just say it out and up front.

After riding it for 1.5 years, here's what I think about our good ol' FZ1 Gen 2.

- Lazy engine. Not responsive enough

- Sluggish acceleration for a litre bike

- Engine response gets worse once the bike is hot

- Bike struggles to breathe, airbox too constricted.. needs modding

- Crappy rear shock. No compression damping settings

- Rear Shock sags and gets soft real fast

- Slow turn in, slow to steer

- Stock brakes suck, no bite no feel

- Lousy fuel consumption for a non-sportbike

- Mirrors get loose after a while, especially if pushed up or down for parking often

If engine nt on, yr voltmeter can't work mah...

tat will be multi meter mate....

Volt meter tell u the current voltage which is 12v for all batt.... (unless stated)

& show the charging (Retificer & Stator Coil) whetever isit at the optimal rate

juz like wat Pichudot said....

Get the pic mate...?

Yo Pichudot I get the whole pic abt the charger & indicator stuff...

Thanks alot mate....

LoL totally agree man! So wats next...

Dunno. But for now, I wanna FIX the problems.

- Lazy engine. Not responsive enough

- Sluggish acceleration for a litre bike

- Engine response gets worse once the bike is hot

- Bike struggles to breathe, airbox too constricted.. needs modding

Put in a K&N filter, then did a semi-Lars airbox mod.

Cut the lip of the airbox away.

Now the bike can actually accelerate somewhat like a 1000cc.

Still not enough though. Airbox is still sucking in hot air from the engine area.

I'm gonna try to run a tube through that frame hole (with all the cables) to route some cooler air from the front of the bike in.

- Crappy rear shock. No compression damping settings

- Rear Shock sags and gets soft real fast

Somebody was selling an Ohlins that day. I saw it a day too late.

Better luck next time. For now, I upped the preload to 5/7.

- Slow turn in, slow to steer

Already changed to heavier fork oil.Fork dropped by 10mm, compression damping +2, rebound damping +1

Solved the uneven wear problem. Factory fork oil levels were uneven!!

Feels better. But bike still wobbles due to rear shock. Need to fix that.

- Stock brakes suck, no bite no feel

Anybody has a Brembo RCS for sale?

- Lousy fuel consumption for a non-sportbike

Airbox mod now gives me 230km to reserve, compared to previous 215km.

It's still sad, but at least a bit better. (I'm trying to console myself here. LOL)

- Mirrors get loose after a while, especially if pushed up or down for parking often

Already solved that problem partially with a chisel and hammer. LOL.
