Any thoughts on which way is better?

 

1. Just drill and dig the material out.

2. Drill with proper hole saw and deburr.

3. Cut the pipe out and weld a hollow one in its place.

 

The cost obviously goes up with the amount and quality of work performed. Wondering if turbulences or whatever of a "lousier" job will make a difference.

not sure about fz1, but it might be difficult to reach the cat with a drill. so bikeshops might just cut the header where the cat is, remove it and weld it back. this process shouldnt cost more than $80.
