Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Anyone knows the cost of doin valve clearance n shimmed (tap pad) change?

Hi Bros,

 

Today I have got a very strange problem in my bike. After starting while i was waiting to warm up the bike, I noticed that RPM suddenly drops and eventually the engine stopped. That time engine temp was about 55C. Afterwards I tried to start the engine again, but it simply didn't start. All lights, meters everything is as usual working; I can hear the engine is cranking, but engine failed to start-up.

 

A brief description of earlier symptom:

 

Last 3 to 4 weeks, I have noticed that in rainy day sometimes bike feels heavy, RPM / speed doesn't go up smoothly as I open up throttle, then suddenly after 4000 RPM or so engine got usual power. But in usual sunny day bike behave very normally. It's 2007 FZ1S and slightly less than 75k Km. I was planning to do a full maintenance and valve clearance as recently there was some tik-tik-tik noise from the engine side.

 

Can anyone please advise what are the possible cause for this? Is it just a foul spark plug or could it be something very major. Tomorrow going to tow the bike to the mechanic shop, but don't want to change this / that without solving the real problem.

 

Another thing, what are the major servicing you guys do in 75K or 80K Km.
