paiseh paiseh, another noobie question, how does the tire repair kit works? have to take out the tire to patch the hole?

i know when i go on cycling trips to malaysia, we do bring tire repair kits so i wondering if it's the same as the ones used for bicycles.

for bicycles, i think what u're referring to is a tube patch kit....

the tyre-repair kits for bike tyres are different~ if ur bike tires are tubeless type, then u get those worm-patch kit. if with tube then best u get the foam canister type (which oso works for tube-less)

get the type that suits ur bike, and get the brand that people have used and recommend.

:sorry: i'm using canister type.... so i can't help u with ur questions~

but if u getting the worm type then must oso remember to get an air pump or some CO2 canisters to fill the tyres with air after patching them up.

You can get it from any motorbike shop.

The kit consists of a reamer, rubber plug, hook tool & rubber solution.

Don't forget a foot pump.

Step 1: Remove the object which caused the puncture

Step 2: Apply the rubber solution on the reamer.

Step 3: Put reamer into the puncture several times

Step 4: Thread plug into hook tool.

Step 5: Push the hook tool with thread plug into the tire.

Step 6: Turn a 1/4 turn and pull out slowly

Step 7: Cut away access rubber plug.

The great thing about tubeless tires is that there is no need to remove the tires to perform minor repairs.

hmm, any idea how different is urs to use comparted to ganman's type of tire repair kit? ur canister type, sounds high tech. how does it work?

mine is a canister containing a fillant foam which will inflate the tyre while patching it at the same time.

good thing is that it's very easy to use (very good for a goondu like me), i dun need to bring an air pump (very good coz i very lazy)

bad thing is... it's not as lasting as a worm patch, i have to change my tyre a.s.a.p (and it'll be hell for my mech coz it means a BIG mess that he will to clean), and if u do think about it.... costs more~

It's just a list. Ok la, I'll be honest. I have only traveled on a rented bike before and whatever bike tools I have, they were provided by the rental shop. I also never bring any camping or cooking equipment. I still prefer to sleep in a nice guesthouse and have a meal at a proper eating place. My pack is usually a 34ltr bag and a helmet bag (helmet included).

Those in red are what I normally carry.

just a thought, even we r fully prepare the necessity items, we must learn also how to use it, take for example: tyre repair kit, first-aid kit.

travel light, watever u can buy from the 7-11,dun bring. Thailand n Malaysia got so many bike shops,tools/spares oso dun bring.

7-11 got palm-sized shampoo, shower gel, powder, facial scrub,toothbrush,toothpaste....enough for a few days' use. when leaving hotel/guesthouse,just leave it in the toilet, dun bring back.

clothes dun bring so much, coz 7-11 oso sell FAB washing powder at 5bht, can wash in the toilet bowl, but must hold the clothes when flushing away the soapy water.

bring a lot of confidence/faith when touring, scared this scared that u won't enjoy the trip.

somebody i know go for 1month trip all in 1 top box. oh yes, i forget to add,he has a pillion too.

Are you serious? :giddy:
