hmm the owner last time got post wanna sell his bike in this forum if i was not mistaken. saw the bike, its very nice outside...all original... :lovestruck:

yup i have the "tak-tak-tak" sound when cold start... dont think its the carbs, its the timing chain that is due. change the timing chain and u wont get this noise again... but mine also havent change yet... :cheeky:

the articel i read said it is not timing chain, the guy in USA change timing chain, cam shaft, the sound still exist, then they call up Honda USA, then Hond replied that it is the design of throttle body....

but i not sure how true...

you may try to tighten the timing chain, if the sound dissapear, i also go tighten my timing chain...

yup i know u read the thred from fireblades.org...

the sound of the carbs i am very sure not the tak-tak sound. u only feel it rattling when u ride when the engine is not fully warmed up. after about 20mins ride the the carbs will be smooth and no more rattling.

the timing chain cannot be adjusted.only option is to replace . i open my engine head cover before, confirm is the timing chain noise.

btw how much mileage ur tripmeter shows?

any bad effect for the timing chain sound?

i think i need to replace the engine gasket soon, some oil mist appear at the rubber area... and this bike is hot, hotter than my previous super four, good thing is the previous owner install a manual fan and headlight switch...

it is 130k, not much for a 8 yrs old bike... equal to 16250km a yr..

when i rode my super four, i clock about 25000km a yr....

there is no bad effect except for the sound... best to change it cos recommended in service manual is 60000km change. well since ur gasket is leaking, then change the timing chain as well cos u are going to open the head cover. there is a risk that the timing chain may snap, but the chances are very, very low.

my mileage is 115000kms, i notice my fren's bike (96 model) timing chain starts to make noise at abt 70000km.

the fireblade sure is hotter than a super4, nothing to worry about that... :thumb:
