You can try at speedway motor also. Nice friendly sales person (Jacklyn). I got mine from there. Fitted mine with the mainstand

and crashbar. Now waiting for stocks for aftermarket pipes. :)

As for your question regarding EO after run in best to use full syn for 4 stroke imo. For run in mineral oil, semi syn then proceed to

using full syn. Thats for me. Others might have different opinions. Ride safe!

According to CB500x manual, after first 1000km EO change, the next will be at 12000km..is that possible ?

I'm using these: (Google "Ortlieb motorcycle bags" they are easy to find online)

What I like about them is they can carry loads and are waterproof but also when empty, they can be reduced to super slim bags of no more than 10cm wide.

I had the rack custom made.

Agree with the shiokness of the tank trunk on the NC700 - was completely hypnotised by it when I saw it haha.. Wish all bikes had that.

I ride ATGATT so yeah, I understand the need for storage, just the gear only is already taking up some space. Add to that some groceries or a bag and a top box is not enough.

In SG in my opinion you gotta go with waterproof. The main issue I have with boxes (all black ones - agree we're staying clear from alu looking boxes), is their rack that usually has too much clearance from the bike body. Making it too wide for traffic.

The 500X riders have already started showing their luggage setup, here's one who made DIY soft panniers racks for his Cortech 2.0 : (no idea why the photo is sideways!)

Soft panniers do come with the rack right ? why need DIY racks ?

Bro pls update when you got quote from them

Call up today. Rack not available.got to wait approx 2 months.

No they don't. So yeah either DIY racks, or get a welding shop to do them for you. You can also try to use existing racks for hard case panniers.

Usually soft panniers don't need much. Just a bar or plate to keep them away from the exhaust and the body of the bike. This guy for example just used a simple steel tube :

[However, I only have 2A bikes to choose from thanks to our beloved folks at the LTA who think their licensing system still makes sense. So 400X it is for now until I get a 2 license or I move to another country.

Hopefully some revised rulez for bikes will come out together with he new guidelines for the updated car coe system which should be out by end 2013.

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???

If it mentioned by the manufacturer themselves, why not? Nowadays I see a trend in manufacturer trying to increase the oil change interval. Focus on making the bike less maintenance free. But to take note, bike which travel little mileage (

Unfortunately the general consensus is that lower cc and horsepower save lives, so even if there was a revision to be made, it will only push the bar lower and make owning 100+ bhp bikes more and more difficult

If the number given is 10K kms per change, the tolerance level is usually higher in order to manage the variance. At the end of the day, even if the engine oil breaks down faster, say 20%, then it would be an oil change every 8K km and not the 5K km recommended. I think mechanics and motorcycle shops are becoming more aware of this change by the manufacturer hitting their revenue stream and start telling us consumers to make the engine oil change as soon as possible. I'll take another example, I normally change my car tyres every 30K km to ensure that I get the best ratio of safety / price. However does it make sense for me to change my tyres every 10K km instead to "increase" safety?

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth

my concern is the license guide for 2b & 2a which directly makes some bike models non existant rather than high powered bikes.

If 2b allows up to 250cc, then there are good choics like cbr 250, ninja 250 etc. There can always be disclaimers for strokers just like how the Aussies do it for their LAMs system.

The 2a allow 251-500 cc. Then CB 500 will be no issue. Not just the new batches, but I referring to the brazillian made cb500 previously. Just like the cb250 twister & cb 500 of years ago.

Then 2 will be above 500. In this way, supersport 600 at 100hp at the ear wheel will still be "protected" from the "safety" unproven...

Or maybe rather then look at cc, look at power instead.

2b 33hp

2a 66hp

2 all the way

I'm actually more for the 2nd method. because for the same cc, power fluctuates greatly due to the number of cylinders.

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???

Never had the chance the own a brand new bike. But for my budget car, based on fully syn oil interval is 15k at ideal conditions. When its harsh conditions = 7.5k.

Now many don't associate themselves as driving under harsh conditions, but when I look at the details of harsh conditions = frequently in start stop traffic, frequent shop trips below 16km, dusty & sandy conditions and some more. But I was surprised to see that the typical SG motorist ticks so many boxes......

For cars, on fully syn , most workshops will indicate sticker on windscreen to change at 10k rather than 15k. Meaning to change at 2/3 mark. So maybe the same ratio may apply for biles also? always remember many recommendations are always made on "IDEAL" driving conditions.

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???

Bike community is too small for LTA to spend time to review/update, they are busy with Cat A/B review. Even if they do (say by power) it will take EU as reference, eg, 2A will be 35kW.

If they go by EU, should be like 2b/25kw, 2a/35kw. benefit 2b riders but screw 2a riders as many on super 4 = must promote to class 2.

though bike commu is small but I read somewhere that by 2014, new import bikes in SG must conform to Euro 3 emission. That will make a lot of the budget commuter bikes obsolete. Choice will be very limited. If no changes are made...very sad man.

True - change is expensive, so if they can justify that the Japan market is still using this methodology, then I don't think we will see any change.

Not happy with the Euro 3 requirement, but then that's the way the world's rocking to, so what to do...

If they change to the EU model then its better for the 2A riders. You might not be able to ride the Super 4 anymore but more bikes will be eligible: Honda NC700, Kawa KLR 650, BMW 650 GS, Yamaha Tenere 660, KTM 690 among others.

Should LTA adopt EU model now, I would get an NC700 Iimmediately. However, given the mindset of those people, I would not hold my breath. Just secretly hoping though. May be a mass petition to LTA?

Japan market, I believe is using a 2 tiered system. We are probably the only one in the world using a 3 tiered system.

I did write to the LTA to suggest adopting the Euro model but all I got was a bunch of blah blah 's.
