MUFFLERECTOMY

Details:

Anyone who owns an SV650 knows that the stock muffler makes the engine sound like a lawnmower. If you want better sound without the expense of aftermarket exhaust and rejetting, go down to the local hardware and pick up a drill bit extension (approx. 13" long) and a good quarter inch steel cutting bit. Chuck the extended bit into your drill and insert it into the end of the muffler until it bottoms against the inner baffle plate. Carefully drill through the baffle in three or four equally spaced places (use a flashlight). Don't worry about the shavings since they will be trapped or blown out and cannot reach the motor. Add holes till you get the amount of sound you want. You won't believe how much better it will sound with no loss in performance. Later on, when the piggy bank is fat, spring for a slip on and rejett with a K&N filter. It's worth the price in performance gains, believe me!

From: Roger Pennington

I ain't the only one telling you people to get that slip-on...

Main stand... :sian: why you wanna spend $$$ and add on extra weight? For me, Main stand is only good for maintenance. I bought a screw jack $10 from hardware shop + wooden block, it serves me well during oiling and washing.

Other then maintenance I see no point having a Main Stand.

as for the exhuast mod, been thinking of drilling... but can't bring myself to do it as inpsection might fail then I need to fork out 1K for a new exhuast...

That's Weiz I was referring to. A really budget way to de-restrict the exhaust.

Or perharps you guys want to do a mass 'tong' exhaust?

Now I know why you guys leave so quickly for this trip.

But come to think of it, people enjoy under the moonlight. But you go all the way and enjoy under the sunlight? You sure have funny preference.

Remove the spacing in between when you paste as there seems to be some auto function to covert the address back here.

Guys.. where you send your bike for tuning... after the last carb job (water in carb) my FC is down from 21Km/ltr to 18km/ltr. Also startup in morning need some throttling, and during warmup idling, engine might stalled. Used to be just press Starter and bike roar to life and stay idling while I put on riding gear.

Anyway, as I just did my maint no too long back, don't need a full service... Do shops just do tuning alone?

SV650, you mention unity $80... this place is dyno tune is it?

Mine only happened after tuning at Unity Motor. I think it's a screw-up job they did for me. Gonna try Looi's soon.
