Can I ask, how much is the camera? Coz I thought of buying a dslr but my budget $500-600. Can make it?

 

The expensive component for dslr is the lens.

You can get a 2nd hand decent body + kit lens for 500 like that (check out the forum @ clubsnap). Then you shoot shoot first, play around with them first to be familiar with it.

if u just wanna get a camera for aim and shoot, or not VERY interested in professional photography (not talking abt enjoy looking at photos) then i suggest u not getting a dslr...

 

it is really an expensive hobby.. if u intend to stop at getting a body + kit lens, then i think its not worth to invest in it..

unless u r really into professional photography and want to get a whole set of lens and really experiment then it is good to invest..

 

a few friends of mine spent over a few k, some even above 10k for lens, etc etc..

 

so.. go for the purpose..

for the budget tt u have.. u either get a not-so-good dslr or a good semi-pro or compact camera..

the best is, u have both.. a good dslr and a good compact

Better to get a 2nd hand one to try and then from there see whether you really interested. DSLR not that light to carry around, some ppl may give up carrying it around after using for a while.

 

There are quite a few value-for-money lenses around, especially for prime lens. Like bikes, you can have fun and decent performance on a Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki or Kawasaki. No need to really go for BMW, Harley, Ducati, etc. Dslr system is comparatively cheap when compared to the rangefinder (an innocent looking Leica rangefinder + a single lens may cost > $20k), but that is another story and system.

 

For non-dslr, can consider compacts such as Panasonic LX-3, Fujifilm F200EXR, Canon S90 or G11.

Don't worry. Can pillon. Can get to know riders first before getting bike. No problem at all. If u shy can pillon some lady riders. If still shy, u can walk. We wait for u.

try to get a cheap second hand cam to get use to it and use the lousy lens to the max. i started out with film slr though, machine was cheap, printing = chor...

one day, maybe u will do something crazy. i met alot amazing ppl on the way, and alot ppl saying "you are crazy". if i am crazy, what abt the guy i met at malaysia-thai border doing round-the-world on bicycle..

 

anyway its a 2-up trip, with my gf riding pillion and being the navigator:angel:

i kept a dairy..not everywhere i go got internet. we always stay at ulu places, eating street food (chilli with raw clams, fried frogs..). but it really brought us closer to local ppl and make us meet all the amazing ppl. i met one english guy at penang. he shipped his africa twin to indonesia to continue his round the world trip. he encouraged us, mostly my gf (she wanted to give up due to bad weather and road condition we encountered), with his stories.

hello. i don't know if you guys remember me, but i've been accepted into NUS FASS and its FASS@NUS day tomorrow so i may be going down after 5pm, to persoanlly submit my form P as well. :p anyway i read this freshman guide book and it says season parking is $20 a month for open lot and $50 a month for covered lot! :o i thought it was free?! could somebody please enlighten me. thank you! :>

IS ANYONE KIND ENOUGH TO... GIVE ME A TOUR GUIDE ARD NUS ON BIKE...

Public transport alrdy quite lost... on bike lagi worse... :(
