went for interviews, kena shot down , deeply wounded

WTF man

this was wat they let me bring away

interviewer: What you did not come across strongly was your passion to be developed as a Professional Social Worker

All SW interviewers that you have been exposed to, do they explicitly share the same assumption that Passion is necessary for developing oneself professionally in SW?

seriously, all along since i joined the SW dept, i have been having this idea-- live on passion, work on passion, and that's it, u are dead

when passion is all gone, ur work is gone

thus, i have NEVER EVER ONCE mentioned that I HAVE A PASSION for this field......... but, most of the good samaritans in my dept are all PASSIONATE ASPIRING social worker

i am fully backed by empirical evidence that, the bloody high turnover rate in this sector , is precisely due to having SO MANY of these PASSIONATE souls, who BURN OUT their life energy source.

I am seriously disappointed at such words

but nonetheless, it does not mean that i am GIVING UP

i will continue trying/searching for a place FOR ME

and trust me, with my over-flowing confidence, and becos such comments really gets me HIGH, i am hell gonna prove myself and show them that PASSION cannot produce as good work ar what CS can do

SW is not your passion, but how do you personally define 'passion'?

What is it that makes you attracted to SW in the first place? and what is it that makes you want to stay on in the field?

You do not agree that passion is necessary for SW and even refutes it; just solely relying on passion alone in SW is self-detrimental for sustaining oneself gainfully in SW for the long term.

True?

But what exactly is it that gives you confidence in doing well in SW? I.e. what do you think is necessary to do well in SW which you think you possess?

Pls dun get me wrong. I am not disagreeing with you, CS.

I see 'passion' as "an overriding emotional attraction towards a subject, that an individual possess".

Speaking as someone who jumped into his first job simply on a whimsical decision based on 'Passion', I think no one has more justification than me to refute the saying that "passion for a subject is all you need to survive and thrive in it".

Rather, 'We are all Passion's fools'.

i am in the midst of channel this negative energy level towards my charging goals at proving myself

but in the meanwhile, i am still in a state of incongruence, or in layman term

i am fuking PMS now

THINGS THAT DUN KILL YOU, MAKES U STRONGER

wtf is this man

This persistence towards SW, can I see it as your own manifestation of 'passion' towards SW, CS?

btw Jio me if you still need a vent-out session.

like what IZ mentioned to me on MSN, this world is full of lip-service

use ur mouth well, and u can make ppl happy

BLOW JOB is what they want, instant gratification

where by the traditional missionary main stream intercourse is becoming redundant

MY MSG to NUS RIDERS

WHEN u go out to work, HECK about what ur own moral principles are, cos, it is DAM N TRUE that DIGNITY AnD MORAL VALUES give u work at McDonalds

even the human service sector, IN SOCIAL WORK, the employers look out for those who can show PASSION during their job seeking period, and gets knocked out as and when readily.

feel so good after i smashed my keyboard

adios

That's a very interesting social perspective... so do you think the most dignified and morally upright ppl work at MacD?

hehe.:cheeky:

p.s. I realised after re-reading my own post that all my questions, put together as a whole, can be interpreted as somewhat aggressive in their direction. But I declare truthfully that all my questions are innocent of any external implications, they are mutually independent, and all for the sole purpose of understanding CS' opinion.

In fact, I am struggling myself with the question of how much emphasis we should apply towards how our 'passions' should affect/sustain us in the things we do, esp wrt our career(s).

plus a bandaged ankle... right side, was it? :cheeky:

yes right...but no bandage...it swells the foot... I am afraid if i ever walk beside a limp person he/she might think i m making fun of him/her

No regrets.

in some way or another

i can always trust u to come up with the most "human-politically correct" answer

individual differences in definition is always the point in mis-understanding/mis-cummunication

but then again

i am fine

dun worry

growing mentally every interview, everyday, every incident, every moment , every second

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.

So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

This is the way you left me,

I'm not pretending.

No hope, no love, no glory,

No Happy Ending.

This is the way that we love,

Like it's forever.

Then live the rest of our life,

But not together.

As strong as you were, tender you go

I'm watching you breathing, for the last time

A song for your heart, but when it is quiet, I know what it means and I'll carry you home, I'll carry you home.
