I am selling my Jan 2013 registered FXDC Super Glide Custom as I have gotten another bike. Now its only uncovered on weekends to warm up the engine and top up tires.

Bike is parked at MSCP and covered.

I went to a mechanic at MAYO ST and apparently HDS connected the IU unit directly to the battery. HDS couldnt even rectify the problem for 5 days and when the report was out, they think the relocation of my ignition was the likeliest problem.

 

HDS said upon relocation of the ignition, the grounding cable had to be connected to the engine case. So when my bike wasnt able to start, the reason was that there wasnt enough ground to start the engine.

 

I was like WTH??? how can they be mechanics in the first place??? let not go futher.

 

To make it short, all it took was a relocation of the iu unit cable from battery to the fuse. Couldnt believe HDS wasnt able to rectify the problem.

 

Check IU? Maybe try to disconnect, ride to charge battery then park overnight. If still can't start again then maybe the battery can't hold charge anymore. DRZs with the new IU seems to have this issue cos the iU is connected directly to the battery. Niwei, good to charge the battery overnight (taking the batt out and charge at home) cos u don't know if the battery is fully charged just by riding the bike. Your lights and electronics need power from the battery too as u ride.

Just my 2 cents.

Start the bike without the card inserted into the IU.

only insert card with running engine.
