Hi Van Jamier,

The one I saw at Excel was yellow, dunno if it is the same one. If it is, I guess it was quite a well maintained bike and you can always go back to excel if there are any problems. But you are paying a premium for that peace of mind.

I was lucky to find a relatively unused M400 couple months ago, and so far no problems with it.

I don't know if there is another m400 still available at Looi's. Sorry but my information is a couple months old though.

Hey man,

I went to Excel yesterday

Only got 1st hand.

Ubi and Shun Li no monster...

Alex (Southern) got 1, FX , 8.8k....too costly

I hope can find one, otherwise have to settle down for

spec2

Basically, the quiter the engine is the better it is.

It should idle smoothly, without hard knocking or ticking sounds. Early monsters' alternator coil have some problem, might loosen and rattle ($700 to replace).

Same starter motor cranks the M900, so shouldn't have problems cranking the M400. Check cylinder head gasket for oil leaks.

Hi...

Do you guys happen to know how much does a pair of monster stock aka "micky mouse" mirror cost?? Cos mine just got stolen....

:gun: the bas***rds who took it

Wow I'm sorry and angry to hear about that. Screw those bxstards! I advise everyone to ALWAYS cover up your bikes to prevent attracting attention (unless you can see your bike from where you are).

If I remember correctly, the micky mouse costs $129 EACH. Call Minerva's Ismail at 6298-4777 to confirm.

if i remember correctly, the mickey mouse ears costs..... $98 per piece...

GOOD LUCK!

but then again, you could go and buy the mirror plugs to plug up the holes... and use bar end mirrors!

I think the monster looks so much better with bar end mirrors! I'd do that to mine... Only thing is my dad hates the idea of bar end mirrors... and he's the primary user of the monster... lol...

From then to now...

yohji : Once bitten twice shy... now must be more diligent to cover up my bike liao... Anyway thanks for the info and contact...will ring them up and check.

Jade : I totally agree with you... wonder what can they do with the "atypical" mirrors.

Sols : Thanks for the recommendations... tot of it as well(think will be quite cool cos I seldom see bike with barend mirrors on the road) but my handle bar ain't stock so there isn't any adaptor at the bar's end. Might need some modification to fix it.

thanks guys :thumb:

I kinda like the Mickey Mouse mirrors leh, hee hee.

The newer Monster's mirrors are quite nice. But then again, the Euro exchange rate is horrible. The mirror mount screw threads are compatible with Suzuki and Honda ones, so can use their mirrors.

Theres a type of scrambler mirrors that look alittle like thin versions of the original mirror, had them on my old monster, but don't know where to get them. Works up to 100km/h without much vibes.

Yeah... Spent so much time, $$ and effort to get him running nicely...

Well, no one else is riding him, my new job requires lots of travelling. I will be away for 3 weeks come Dec, then again for a few months early next year.

Pains me to let him go too.... :weep:

Have to consider long and hard about this!

wad bike are u riding currently? am stuck between getting a m4+bore up kit, or a m9 in 11months.... haha! for me, i'm stuck koz:

m4 vs m9 pros- lower rd tax and insurance, betta fc(but lower power), supposely cheaper engine servicing and parts, lower maintainance(single front pad to replace oni, wet clutch)

m9 vs m4 pros- sufficient power(for me), ducati's fullest soul and charactor due to it's bassy v twin exhaust sounds and catchy clinking sounds of the dry clutch, the original monster!

i think even after boring up the engine to 580cc for the m4, power should yield ard 50+bhp, less than on par wit m620?

minerva had a 800cc bore up kit foe the 2006 efi m4. costs 5k excluding labour hor... like dat can buy the s2r800 or m1000ds le... :giddy:

Well, I suggest keeping the Monster and adding a sub rider so she still gets ridden often enough?

Selling the monster is emotionally man.......bring to mind a song from Chicago," If you leave me now, you'll take away the biggest part of me........Wooo OOOOoo no baby please dont go...."

Most people go through life following the crowd.

Others think for themselves.

They go their own way.

Hmm....one bad bad thing about big bore kits are that once you need replacement parts like the piston or rings, you have to get the whole set.....

Unless you could get an aftermarket company that sells the whole big bore kit and also the piece parts.

So far, I only knew a company in States that specialised in 748, and have a big bore kit for that bike, with piece parts for sale for thereafter maintenance.

If you park it away from the rain and get your bro to keep a lookout while you are away, I suggest you keep it. I been travelling awhile these few months, and my neighbour has been looking out for my bike.

I know it will be hard when eventually I have to sell my duc, but it's comforting to know I'll be getting another one somewhere else in this world, hee hee.

:cheer:

Probably the other bike that could get me off the Duc saddle would be either Buell or MV.

Anything off the Duc accessorries catalogue like CF parts, DP parts, Termins..... :D

You could also take a look at MotorWheels.com for many pretty and functional enhancements.
