Got a RED anodized handlebar with red alloy bar ends imported from RED Racingparts Italy. Original Monster dimensions. Selling for $80. Call 97584037

Tabako: i rode an M900 for 4 years.

from experience i would first check the emulsion tubes in the carb. they usually start wearing after 5K Km. replace to factory pro emulsion tubes if u can.

it could also just be the natural M900 chain snatching at small throttle openings. try 15F n 43R sprockets if i remember correctly for less snatching

check airbox nozzles for flow and turbulence on induction intake also

I went to racewerkz at alexandra cos near my work place to change my brake pads. And asked them why engine splatter.

The guy there took a few revs on my throttle and concluded that the timing is out. He say fix it costs $120.. i dunno trust him or not? anybody has any experience?

Mine is a 1998 M900

And I was thinking about modding a compress piston as well. Can folks here gimme some details about this change? the effects on performance, fuel consumption etc.

Was it the young or the slightly older gentleman whom you spoke with?

Most people go through life following the crowd.

Others think for themselves.

They go their own way.

Tabako > Try balancing your carbs first. Its a 5 minute job that requires just a screw driver and flow meter. Don't even need to raise the tank!

Check your spark plugs too. If they're fouled, its a tuning problem. Probably some carb components are worn out and need replacing.

Erm, why don't you try KnT, located at a block behind Pleasure Ubi?

I've entrusted my Ducatis with clifford (Monster M400 and 999), can always trust him to give a proper diagnosis.

"timing" is a very vague diagnosis IMO.

Hi,

Saw a monster at junction of Kallang Stadium on 22 Dec 06 ard 10pm.

Waved and signal a "hi" to him before i turn left.

Today, 27 Dec 06 saw a 3 digit place with GPR exhaust at Science Park car park.

Bike is with CF hugger and overall very nice conditions. Cool.

Cheers!

Just got the 96 monster 600 from my sister.

After a few days of riding, i notice some odd things:

1) The chain chatter alot when on half clutch control, especially on mid gear with low speed ( Does this means the chain/sprocket need to chain?)

2) Left side of the tubular frame has some rust caused by battery water splliage. How do i get it off?

3) When using the front brake, the steering area has a soft tick sound. Does it means the steering cone has a problem or just the suspension?

4) Brake is soft. Is that common for a Monster.

5) How much does a oil/plugs change cost usually?

Hope to hear from you guys.

Cheers

1) Your chain is probably too slack. Check the tension, tighten if nessesary, but not too tight.

2) Its sulphuric acid, and it will eat through metal. Only way to get rid of it is to paint over the stains. Anyway, since its a 1996 bike, the battery should be replaced already. Get a sealed maintenance free one, which would not leak.

3) Probably the steering cone bearings are worn. Fairly inexpensive to replace, but labour intensive.

4) Monsters are entry level Ducatis designed to be easy to ride streetbikes for beginners, so their brakes are softer than the Superbikes.

5) Depends on what type of engine oil you choose. Spark plugs cost $2 each and takes minutes to change.

Hope this helps :thumb:

I think Termi slipons will cost you upwards of $1000 for a brand new set.

2nd hand ones can be bought for around $400 to $600, depending on condition.

I think there are Arrow, GPR, Akrapovic and micron pipes for the Monster. Just shop around and look for your favourite! But then again, Termis and Ducatis always go together :thumb:

Neo, I could not agree with you more.... Termis+Duke = Awesome

Well for now, need to slowly build up my cousin's bike

1) Sprocket and chain = How much? advice on teeth size.

2) Change on steering cone bearing since hard braking have a tick sound from the steering

3) Engine oil change and plugs change

4) Valve clearance, maybe depends on what mike says

5) Remove brake/gear pedal frame for chrome and anodised since its flaking

6) Size to rewrap, going to Desker road to do it. Any other place?

7) Install speedometer light since it has blown.

And many more depending on pocket size.....
