My replies in yellow =)

Accessories wise I think there is nothing much that needs to be added (Maybe a carbon fiber tank pad is enough. Don't know if the seat cowl is provided? Bellypan not really necessary). The bike looks just fine in its original form (except for the funny-looking headlight).

The bike looks fine in its own but i need to add personality into it. There are infact many accessories and to name a few there are CRG lane spilt mirror, rizoma bar and grips, clutch and belt covers and etc.

Below are the sites that Monster Lovers go when sourcing for accessories and parts.

Monster Parts

PJ's Parts

I guess soon, many companys will make parts for the new monster so i'm pretty positive about that.

The pipes sound OK, without Termis on. And yes, the tank covers are made of plastic, for easy removal, in case you wanna change the colour of your bike (I don't really think anyone would wanna do that). And it is fuuny that they only have 3 colours for the tank covers. They should have included more choices since they allow riders to change the tank covers so easily. It also means magnetic tank bags will not work. I don't like to use tank bags anyway, have a feeling that it will scratch the tank.

Oh plastic, erm.. maybe that's why it's lighter in weight than 695 hehe.. I dont like the idea of interchangable tank (like how many people out there will be so free to swope; they need to change the front wheel fairing in order to match the tank color as well!)

Me love the look of those huge rocket launcher exhausts hehehe, makes the 696 looks really powerful. The frame looks good too, thicker and so it gives the 696 an even more monsterous looks. The whole bike now looks more stubby and compact, ready to blast off anytime, anywhere.

Yeah the whole bike looks beefy now, I do appreciate that but no-no to the exhaust and no matter how beef up the exhaust is, i still think it looks pretty much like an ice-cream cone.

If you have been to the Bike Asia show you would have seen the 696 in its flesh. Dam bloody nice and sexy I tell you. And with slipper clutch, Brembo brakes, 1098-like dash board, it's a really nice package. Nothing "budget" about it.

But I've been riding a Monster for almost 3 years now and I would like to try something else for a while. So I'll give the 696 a miss. How I wish I can afford to have it as a spare bike!

I would go for the 696 if I were you. :D

PS: abt $2.4K price difference between 695 and 696.

I think most probably I might go for a 696 and thanks for your valuble inputs, appreciate it a lot.

If u're patience in one moment of anger, u will avoid 100 days of sorrow.

Think those are photochopped images by some fans who wanted to see how the new monster would look with the liquid cooled 1098 engine and 1098 single sided swingarm and wheels.

I read somewhere about ducati's chosen design direction (not sure of its accuracy but it apparently came direct from Ducati and seemed authentic enough)

Ducati decided that future monsters will only use aircooled engines. The liquid cooled variants like the S4R types will be cancelled, instead there will be a new line of naked bikes using the testastretta engine but they will not be in the monster family. More like naked 1098s rather than monsters if this makes any sense LOL.

I'd expect that the next big thing coming up for the new monster design is the 1100 dual spark aircooled engine version. its already in the hypermotard and its aircooled so its only a matter of time before they put it in the monster.

Just MHO but i dont think the new monster is a step in the right direction styling-wise. I love the new engine, so much more advanced and powerful, but thats pretty much it. A monster was concieved as a simple, naked, well proportioned beautiful bike. This one has too many shap edges, and looks grossly out of proportion, very japanese-esque. The headlight is too flat, and has an odd shape. The fuel tank is much too big, and the fact you can swap plastic panels on it gives me that 'cheap nokia phone' impression. I dont particularly like a digital dash on a streetbike like a monster too or how they route the exhaust headers past the engine either, part of the appeal of the ducati desmodue engine is its beautiful simple view from the side, now it got messed by the header blocking it. The worst thing that i think they did though, is completely destroy the trellis frame. they chopped off the back half and replaced it with a cheap-looking subframe and made the front tubing too fat.

Thats just one man's opinion though. Its how most people view it that will determine how well it succeeds. If it doesnt sell well they will probably change the design very quickly anyway like they did with the 999 (although i personally thought tha 749/999 series was frikking beautiful, especially in black)

Hi funfly, congrats on your new purchase! Please dont take what i said earlier too seriously, its just one guy's rotten opinion LOL. At the end of the day, its what YOU think looks good that counts. At the end of the day its a ducati and a ducati is gonna get a lot of positive attention, regardless which model. And its probably just as fast as my 900 too, maybe faster! So consider me very jealous :thumb: Welcome to the club and hope to meet you and see your bike in person one day

Hi guys,

This morning, I discovered the following missing from my Monster.

1. Seat Cowl

2. Belly-Pan

If there are any guys who know someone else who is selling or respraying these items to their bike colour, you can contact the Investigating Officer whose number I will attached below. Reason is, my bike is blue in colour which is quite rare and the thief is suspected to be a fellow Monster rider as these items will only fit a Monster. This makes it even more painful.

Moreover, the theft happened outside a PUB power room which a 24 hr camera is present. The footages will be viewed to see who the culprit is.

So if u r the guilty party, before this become big; I am willing to take back the items and probably drop the criminal charges if possible. PM me and I promise your privacy will be kept.

Thanks.

Dude which area do you live? I'm sure all our guys would look out for it. Sorry about the loss of parts, must be painful. Is the belly pan just for monster or can jap bikes use also? May not be a fellow monster owner who stole it but who knows. Hope it gets resolved soon.
