hi guys , i jus went to view a Ducati monster today. everything seems goos. But i m unsure how to be sure if i m taking over a bike that will not eventually cost me more for watever repairs i will have to make. The bike is yellow in colour with the words 'Sanfu' on the fuel tank(dunno y the owner wants that but he says he's going to do new paintwork for me). The pipe linking to the exhaust pipes have bee de-linked( the owner says to reduce engine break effect) and theres an addition of an earth wire. The gears have also been adjusted whereby u step down to engage a higher gear. The engine sounds and feels smooth enough but when idling, the sound of the engine is somewhat noisy. Im unsure if the condition is good as i hav not ridden a monster b4. Btw, Is the fork for the monster an inverted fork?

So far, i only trust nEOs monster but his price is somewhat on the steep side. I dun mind paying more for his bike but i dun wanna miss this more affordable deal( if the bike is really ok). i hope the monster masters here can advice me on what else to look out for. Thanks a lot.

the additional earth wire is so that you can start your bike when the side stand is down... cos by default, if the side stand is down, the starter motor will not engage...

I've seen the sanfu monster at sanfu before... looks not bad... haha... but i donno how it feels, cos never ride before... and never seen it started before... haha...

the reverse gear shifter is actually quite good for the track... but for singapore road i'm not so sure leh... haha... sounds interesting though... and its very easy to make it back to the orignal configuration, just change the gear lever will do...

so for the pipe i donno... haha...

but monsters do sound noisy... but what kinda noisy are you talking about?

cheers!

Sols

Frankly, i m more inclined to getting nEO's bike... now saving up and hope that i can sell my Super 4 Ver S asap. Anyway, how much and where to do a good paint work for the monster? And how much to get the back seat cover?

Going to Kallang Cycle.... for the FOURTH time! :faint:

My Dukee is still leaking AND consumption is higher despite all that work done....

Does chain and sprocket play a part in fuell consumption?

How much does a throttle cable cost ah?

Sounds like a manufacturer's defect.... The previous owner should have gotten the entire block replaced under warrenty.

sprocket does play a part in consumption...

bigger sprocket, better acceleration, lower top end, less mileage...

smaller sprocket, better top end, slow acceleration, better mileage...

chain also... keep it well lubed...

well fact is, before michael worked on yer bike, there was no leakage right? so there u have it, it was not meant to leak in the first place, prob did a botched up job and blame it on the previous owner. hope u get my pt.

btw, when i had the monster, after he did the scheduled servicing, it leaked too, had to go back twice to rework it.

Current rides: Ducati 999 and X9 500 SL

When I first saw Jade's bike, first thing I noticed was the bottom of the gearbox area was quite oily. So the defect has been there all along.

I had the leaking problem when I went to see him. after I took it back, I noticed it was still leaking, so went back to him - time and again.

Michael did tell me that it was a factory defect, since the warranty is no longer in effect, I will have to make do loh....sigh!

Finger, legs, eye crossed that the problem will be finally resolved!!
