Been reading this thread from Pg 1. Am new to the Ducati scene but would really like to own one. A friend who owned a Monster S4 for the last 4 years is asking if I want to buy his bike and to give him an offer. I really have no clue on what the market value of Ducati in SIngapore.

Bike is 4 years old with 5000 km on it. He has 3 bikes for many years. I have never seen a 4 year old bike that is so well maintained. I would rate 9.5 upon 10 for the condition. He is the 1st owner.

Anyone have any idea how I should offer. Don't want to insult him with too low a price. Been doing a search but don't see many S4's around that is on sale.

Any S4 riders in this group?

Thank you for any comments.

sweet bike, and now to see if you can have a sweet deal to go with it.

For a start, my view is that the price would have been at least halved from the price of a new bike, given that 4 years have passed. In fact, some saythat Italian bikes' depreciation is more drastic. low mileage is a plus, but bikes are made to run, they are not made to be stored unless special steps are taken.

I would suggest that you check out the brand new price on the bike, and any offer should have its starting point there. It is a buyer's market now, although I think that there are not many S4s on the market.

Hope that you find a bike that you love. PM me if you wanna meet up, got quite a few friends riding dukes.

cheers

Well, I think the Monster should be kept simple, down to the basics ie. Air cooled. Put a superbike engine in just makes it more complex.

But anyway, 5000km, means it hasn't even had its first timing belt change yet. Better get that changed, and inexpensive but good insurance against potentially expensive problems.

Ard 10k or less shd be very reasonable n it depends on u whether u r willing or he is asking a higher price for well maintainance. Its doesnt count if it had alot of accessories or routinely maintained. The mkt price n value is ard 10k IMO

Further more the maintainance is higher then other air-cooled monster with twice the valves to service. But y not if hate the air cool top end power. I welcome u in advance to the club lol

Thank you for the warm welcome and the information my friends. The bike is actually a surprise present for my wife. Just pray that she likes it.

Is it reasonable or too high if I offer $14.5K. The bike actually looks brand new except for the age of the pipes at the bottom. Seems to have tarnished a little.

Darn .... men will marry you if you give them a duke!

The important thing is that the seller and buyer both accept the price.

Cheers

try calling motor tiam, see a 4 years monster can fetch hw much when, trade in or buy out. the price should be in between

or another way ask ur friend to give u a quote, just tell him truthly that u dunno the market for monster. (but dun do that if it just a hi bye friend)

anyway, since he is capable to own 3bike, he wouldn't mind to let it go cheaper for a friend.

lastly, does a a 4 years old monster still need 14.5k? i was quote 3k+ for a FN plate 3years ago, which is a 6years old bike that time. maybe some monster rider can help? i was tokking abt monster400

Anyone know where i can get a tacho for m4? i was quoted ard 500 plus at minerva :giddy: I am willing to consider second hand tachos too. Are there any aftermarket tacho that will work with the m4 cos it seems like must use originals only. Thanks

Hi

Anyone here has a problem with engine stalling?I noticed it comes only when it rains, than when I close throttle n clutch in the engine goes putt putt poof

Posted

Yup experience that a few times. Just today. Was caught in the heavy downpour. Stopped the bike by roadside for raincoat. No problem starting bike (cos just change piston ring) but after stopping at next junc, close throttle and engine like gg to die.

It always happen during wet weather. Maybe its the low profile pipes?

Yup got that for my m4 too. Any possibility that the fuel cap is letting water in? cos theres a time when i servive my carb when i had this problem n the mech told me its wet......wet? Always.....i mean most of the time the idling is 'funny' after rain

Yeah getting back my m9 tomolo hahaha sick n tired of this NSR150 but still very grateful of my fren lending me his SP....better then take bus rite?

My friends

I was suppose to collect my bike yesterday, but it rained all day. Hopefully I can do it this morning.

The owner wanted to sell me his carbon pipes, said it's the original Ducati onces and he paid over $1000 for it. He is asking $600 after 4 years. Is that a good price? Will we get a chance to use it in Singapore? Need some advise please.

Happy riding!

If I may offer my non-Ducati perspective, it's probably water on the front cylinder's HT leads and spark plugs (kicked up by the front wheel), which causes mis-firing of the front cylinder.

Make sure its Carbon Fibre Termignonis, not Remus. Termis sound much better than Remus, more refined, more expensive.

If its in good condition ie. No cracks, dents scratches etc, then its a good price I guess. I sold mine for $420, and it sounds absolutely fantastic on the ST4.

Thanks Neo. You have been very active on the thread. Good stuff. And also heard you saving somebody on the road.

Heard you have sold your S4. What's your ride now?
