Hi guys, just to share with you about my personal "feel" on changing to a high riser handle bar. If I did not remember wrongly, someone mentioned about Shadow's original wide handle bar hard to turn and requires a very big turning arc. Well, I have this problem too and so I had fixed a high riser handle bar which I brought from maniahk. It's from his Yamaha Dragstar. Sent for re-chrome and did some modification on the mounting studs as Dragstar's studs were about 15mm shorter than a Shadow ACE's.

Well, the change over....SHOK MAN!! Better control, front end lighter / easier to steer , seating position up right ( good for those whos' got back ache problem. Sad to say, I also have lah) Kinda feel like ride a HD!. Turning or U-turn takes a much smaller arc and faster too.

Just sharing my experience on this. Hope it will benefit some brother out there.

PS: Try it for another few more weeks. Most likely, I may customise a stainless steel handle bar from Seng Kwang. Anyone knows what's the price like? And if anyone wish to fix on their bike can contact me. Letting go at a low price as clearances. Thank you.:bouncefire: :bouncefire:

Hi Shadow17, if I am not wrong 1. Chrome $45, Handle bar from maniahk $20, drilling and welding of new studs $25, stainless steel spacer and nuts $5. Workshop remove and re-fit = have not pay yet...because the mechanic too lazy to drill one hole to properly to align the right control switch unit. Now my brake level slightly too low and hard to reach! I think +/- $25.

Hey plasticblackspecs, I good enough to let you try yet you "damn" me hah....

Just joking lah. No problem any time if I am in the office. Just to tickle you a bit more...really feel shok you know...I am loving it more and more.

Just to add, I called Seng Kwang for a price of benting a riser handle bar from stainless steel, he quoted me $XX. Want to know can PM me. Don't want to disclose sensitive matter openly in this forum.

Plasticblackspecs-Tickle you again when I find more things that I like about the conversion. As for Friday gather, I don't think so but let see how next time. Cheer guys!

Hi plasticblackspecs, I have not seen these picture, anyway mine riser is not soooo high rise. It is 5" to 6" only. Can't imagine how to steer the bike?! I am sure it is not approved by LTA.

BTW, I really like the black shadow rider's seat. Anyone know in Singapore any where can buy or custom make with spring absorter?

Have a good day to all!

Doubt you could find such vintage spring seat around in Singapore. Maybe there is but, I have yet to see any of these going around in the shops I have visited. Perhaps customizing locally or purchase from online store?

Hi nights, how's everything? I guess as much that such seats are not available in Singapore. Maybe spend abit more time to do motor accessories "shopping". I have seen those china made bicycle, those they use to delivery rice or provision. They have similar type, maybe can DIY from those?

Hi mhvin65

I'm fine. Thank you. I trust you have been well too?

Sure you could by all means D.I.Y. from those bicycles but, it may not be feasible in term of safety and of course our local regulatory authority.

You may want to pick up plasticblackspecs's suggestion and try your luck with the local Vespa shop. My recommendation would be the shop down at Golden Wall centre beside Motorworld boutique. This shop seems to be very much frequent by local Vespa enthusiasts.

Thanks nights!

I have called up Seng Kwang. They quote $100+ for handlebar. Advised me to find accessories shop for cheaper bars.

They may not be cheap but they are honest.
