what do you mean by a good buy?

price? comfort? fuel consumption?

i once gave a mazda 2 some smell of black smoke after he stopped at the traffic light & started inching because his lane was obstructed while mine was clear...he obviously didnt want to slow down later to change lane...

he must be thinking "aiyah...stupid van. i can surely beat him.."

as far as i know from my friends who drive mazda 2 , 3 and 6, they are all good cars.

good in terms of fulfilling what they are meant to do. that is shuttle the driver and passengers from pt A to B. Mazdas are also reliable and easy to maintain as with all the Japs. basically if youlike the looks, then go for it (provided you got the moolah)

I personally frown on people who buy OPC cars.

To me the formula is easy, cant afford normal plate when it is already so cheap, then dont buy and dont drive. , why choke the roads and pay ERP, parking, insurance etc....especailly when $10k - $20k means an arm and leg

Sorry, but just being very frank and honest, nothing against you, really.

maybe that's his second car ?

I have actually seen a OPC Nissan Fairlady 350Z, and it would only be logical that is his spare car. Nevertheless illogical people do exist.

yes that would be logical. i agree if and only if that is the second car.

good point.

but surely you would be able to presume that this is not the group of OPC drivers i was referring to, right?

for ppl who flies often, it do make some sense 2 get an OPC. depends on ur kind of job/lifestyle n what u want.

a lawyer was recently featured in ST owning an OPC Megane. that car cost more than a normal plate Vios. being a lawyer, he could well afford something else.

its wrong to assume OPC = poor.

i think you guys are missing the point. perhaps i have not been clear enough i guess. apologies.

if the OPC car suits your lifestyle to a tee and you are not one of those scrimping and living hand to mouth simply to own a car, it's the perfect choice.

But i know many people who die die want to have a fourwheeler so buy OPC then live in misery becos cant bbear to go out pay ERP, parking, etc Etc, then dont wan to drive out, Those are real jokers, man.....

nt all r so successful in career like u..... wat we need is to hav a own transport to bring kids and parent out on weekends.... and daytime i hav my bike to bring me to work... so i dun reali nd it during weekday office hour.... since i can save $17000 on opc... y nt!

exactly why not? good for you. as long as it suits you to a tee as I have mentioned and you have so claimed. it's perfect.

And please, this has got nothing to do with my miserable salary or anyone else's. It's about attitude in car buying, that's all.

so hope you wont to take this personally hereon.

Thanks dude.

All glenn is asking is...a weekend plate Mazda 2 a good buy??

I'm amazed at people saying that if can't afford normal plate, than don't buy!

glenn has said he only need it during the weekend so it make sense.

Not everybody is rich like you, stays in Bt.Timah, drives a Volvo and has $ to burn smoking cigars almost everyday! What you said will most difinately get flame!

I hate guys like you who thinks $ rules!

already made clear my stance and apologised for the loose statements i made earlier. If want to flame without reading in full, plse carry on, not really my concern.

but again why draw inferences on rich and poor. it's about buying attitude , not about rich or poor. Perhaps you should try to look just a little bit beyond that and it will help you grow.

on the contrary, it seems like you are the one who thinks that money rules therefore your sour grape type comments. Wanna start a new thread to flame me instead of using glenn's?

thanks
