I am getting my bike only next year... Actually, I am still waiting to register for my CL2 early next Jan, but I find it a good deal, so I confirmed the bike with the bike shop first... Plus I hardly see any such new second-hand FJR (only 1yr + a bit old, a FZ FJR)...

I am kind of worried now that I may not be able to life this heavy bike up to park on its main stand... So just like to ask you lao-jiao FJRians here, how do you manage to park it on main stand??

Hi, n@kan0,

Do you have pics of you guys with your bikes?? So that at least I can see what U meant.

"...i think if u short and thin then u have problem other then dat it will be fine no worrys ..."

Hi, deanz4,

In your expert opinion, do you consider a height of around 1.76m and around 76kg short and thin to handle a FJR well??

And I heard from a lot of other people that Yamaha parts are very expensive comapred to other brands like Honda and for big bikes, we got to change certain parts after every 30,000km or something like that. So does that mean it will be an expensive "hobby" to own a FJR??

Sorry, a lot of questions from a newbie seeking advices...

Near misses & drops... That's what I am worried about...

First, if drop, how to lift it up alone?

Second, scratches on the fearings(I know it's wrong spelling. How to speel har?) and the bike body will cost $ to re-spray leh... (even though I have requested for sliders to be fixed on both sides.)

Third, I apologise for asking so many questions, pls do not flame by saying, "...if you worry this, worry that, then don't get a FJR, go get a Wave..."

Firstly since there's a mention of "...nv too short to ride the FJR..."I would like to make it clear that I am NEVER in any intention of making of any short riders here about height issue, if there is/are...

I just wanna to find out more about FJR.

deanz4,

hahaha... I really like your "the bike needs freedom..let it have it by riding it hard and fast to thailand..."... All my bikers friends who knows I am getting a FJR has already "booked" me and look forward to me riding FJR to Hatyai with them. No one in the group has a FJR, all of them riding Busa and 1 guy riding R1.

But then I believe I won't go too "hard and fast" cos wanna to get used to the bike first...

Some of you may laugh at me for getting the FJR first w/o getting my CL2. But it was really a nice 2nd-hand 1yr-old FJR... Looked totally new to new with the FBB plate on it (think the previous owner retain his FZ plate when he traded in his FJR...). I was thinking I won't be able to get another such good deal after I get my licence, cos I know for big bikes like this, it is kind of difficult to find a good 2nd-hand, most owners will keep thier big bikes...

But right now, I just gotta loon lor and be satisfied with my S4.

1.5years 60k mileage! Wow! That's impressive!

Mine 3years 5mths with 55k mileage...sometimes the ticking sound can be a bit irritating but once the engine is hot..the sound seems to get silencer :cheeky:

Any brudders here changed timing chain and tensioner before to get rid of the 'tick'? Is it really effective? Heard some saying that the sound will still be there and it's just a matter of time before the 'tick' returns.

erm...I learnt it the hard way last time on my diversion, luckily no major damages...the fall was cushioned off by a big pot of plant

If not realli particular can use marker to touch up the damaged paint (if its minor, of course). Minor scratches on big buffalos like FJRs are not really visible unless one really see carefully and study every damn corner of the bike.

Dun worry, if you ever get the chance to see your beloved on the ground, strength will come naturally :cheeky:

The "tick" comes from the valve and valve guides. The timing chain/tensioner is another kind of tick.

Mine has 78,000km (capi should reach 100,000km liao) in my odo and to me, the tick does not affect my riding at all. Just put on earpiece and listen to my MP3 den you wont hear the tick lor. Response still the same.
