bros, need some help here. wat brand & model tires u guys using? anyone tried the Brigdgestone Battlax BT021?

am using on mine..superb tyres and i believe everybody agrees.

great cornering and traction just like sportsbike..u can even go "down" further if u want to.

downside of this BT021, is that the front tyre tends to wear out faster than the rear and i mean REALLY REALLY wear out. while ur rear tyres still looks new. :giddy:

overall its a very good choice and in fact its been made as a stock tyres for 07 and 08 model FJR. Another brand u may wish to look out for is the Metzeler Z6 also a sport touring tyres..good reviews from both :thumb:

Quick question anybody here ever do top speed during wet weather ?

just wanna ask if this is normal... coz last mon on the way back from KL after watching motogp at sepang..

trying to avoid more heavy rain i cruising around 240 ...

but all sudden i feel my bike...

1 heavy

2 front tyre starts to wobble

3 handle suddenly vibrate excessively

I have to grab as hard as i could to stablize it.

what in the world could have cause this?

anybody can share?

issit becoz ...

strong wind blowing sideways ?

the road condition cause its wet n slipery ?

the white line ? (i also encounter my tyre skided a couple of times when touches it)

btw i was riding solo and nothing heavy on my pannier inside just clothings.

and my tyre (BT021) is still new abt 1mth old +

anyway this doesnt happen when im on dry road + with pillion behind :p

why our bike doesnt come with damper would it prevent this from happening if we have installed it ? :(

Last Question ... how heavy is our FJR weight in KG?

The only time I experienced this is when my tires are near its service life. My front would shake like hell whenever I travel more than $150. Most prob out of balance. Have u tried the same speed on dry with your current tires?

Our bike is bout 230kg rite? Can rmb the exact but about there.

Hi, bigcow,

Like Mr Mazky said, BT021 is really a good tyre. You can "brush" your foot-peg (not the pillion ones) with the tarma if you are daring enough to go that low.

But the front tyre really wears out faster than the rear. So you can have 2 front tyres for 1 rear tyre. (If you know what I mean).

Z6 is a good touring tyre, but personally I feel cannot "go as low as a BT021". Z6 also very long-lasting...

It all depens on what you want -> Play corners or long-lasting tyres.

Good luck... :thumb:

Sorry to interrupt.

If I remeber correctly, FJR is 254kg dry weight, if I am not wrong... Can check out the Hong Leong website on this.

Cheers.

I've scrap my pegs using pilot sport and pilot road as well.. I think most tires can achieve that... My worst experience is Z4.... It came stock for my 02. Ski like hell.... Tried 020 before I think but sticked to michellin ever since. Pilot road lasted me 20K. Pilot sport 17K. Now using Pilot Road 2 for the first time. I'm impressed with its feel on wet road.

thanks guys for all the advice. the problem goes like this.

i've just bought a 2nd hand '04 model FJR, i do know that BT021 comes stock with the '07 & '08 models. but on my user manual, it states BT020. bike shop gave me a new set of BT021 & tire was balanced right in front of me. on wet ground, very slippery for both front and rear. also very hard to turn or corner.

after 2 weeks, changed to the BT020. bike was suddenly so much nimble and on the wet, no longer feel slippery.

this is a very big ? for me. pls advice. thanks.

u really cruise 240km/h on wet road ah?? :giddy: :giddy:

after watching motogp,go back still got the effect is it hehe

First and foremost bro think about SAFETY ok..glad ur back after ur Sepang trip.

thanks for the great explanation. btw which model u riding?

Yeah im riding an 08 model FJR..is it really that huge of a difference between 020 and 021 tryes for ur bike? i tot it shd be the same coz a fren of mine riding an 02' model is using the 021 tyres and he said it was great!

well my guess is maybe...Yamaha made huge improvements on the 06' model onwards incld side compartments, rear pillion holder, light shapes etc etc.. maybe they also did something to the suspensions i guess.

But this is just my 2 cents lah..pardon any unintentional info mistakes :cheeky:
