Ya, its standard, 500 baht/day..thought you can give kopi money instead.

6.5 hrs NS Highway, how fast you travelling bro? kinda fast man..

kopi money was when i was stopped just outside bkk, i gave 200thb.

then near hatyai i kena another stop... i told the police in thai that i just got caught and paid 200thb already! he said "ok ok ok, go go!"

i travelling between 180-210 on the NSH, the roads were pretty open... i only slowed down when a vehicle was in my way.

i think the hotel bed at hat yai made a difference, i was "dying" while riding from bkk to hatyai but i was super fresh when travelling from hatyai to SG.

it must be the bed of the budget hotel i normally stay in bkk. normally i fly there so i don't really care about the bed, because i'll be too drunk to feel it anyway. but i think for touring i better book hotels with nice beds!

anyway i have to send my bike for servicing next week.

change oil filter, engine oil, gear oil, spark plugs and tyres.

thinking of what tyres to change to, i kinda liked the metzelers on my previous FJR. or do you guys think that bridgestone is good enough?

i know that my tyre slipped a couple of times on singapore roads when wet... most probably because of the paint on the road.

The owner is a biker too.

BTW if you are getting ram mounts to hold the GPS, it will amount up to about $111.

I am looking at Metzeler Interact Z8... dunno if have in SG or not. Also gotta think where to get it changed. Last time there was this place in the west where they sell tyres cheap right??

Nap hotel is at Silom... I usually stay at Ratchada area. The place I got was 600THB a night... but I will stay there if i am flying up. If I ride up, i am gonna go for my other hotel which is Mini R, but no sheltered parking though.

i bought garmin.

mine isn't weather proof but i got from ebay for $148 inclusive of shipping. the model i had is selling for $199 in SG.

since its from ebay, i have to download the maps myself.

i wrapped a ziploc bag round the GPS during the songkran period.

i stay only around ratcahda because it is near the clubs and i don't get mistaken as a tourist, so i get left alone.

Garmin nuvi 205w

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=13432&ra=true

i can navigate the screen with my gloves on.

the only worry is that it is not weather proof.

but then it kena splashed by water because i rode through a village in chiangmai, and they were still playing water even though everyone else has stopped. they didn't get the memo.

u mean vibrate left n right? like was kopiosatu mention, try pumping more air..front 270 rear 290..try puting on main stand and ask some one to sit down behind so that ur front is up.turn left to right, if hav click sound or very stiff..and when u ride u cant ride straight.more likely ur cone bearing is gone.

check wheel bearing ,spin wheel to see free play.must move freely.no feeling of something obstructing.as in tight.

cone bearing i just change.i saw the mech check my wheel bearing as i mention above.

mine is not the latest one but accurate enough, didn't get lost...

once it told me to go down a dirt road at hatyai but i just ignore and let it recalculate.

recalculation is fast enough.

the GPS brought me round chiangmai and bkk easily.

i even bring it around with me when i walk around hat yai

if u ride at bkk, remember to activate avoidance once you get near there.

tell the gps to avoid toll roads.

once you get out of thailand, you can turn off the avoidance. otherwise when you ride in m'sia it will avoid the NSH

my neighbour went to bkk and got lost for 4 hours. he was cursing the GPS because he said he had to go up the highways and it kept pointing them up the highway, but i told him he could switch on avoidance and he didn't know there was this function.

he has never been to bkk often enough to know that the toll ways don't allow bikes too.

For chiangmai, when riding round the moat... sometimes have to use common sense.

let's say you are at the 10 o'clock position of the moat, you need to go to the 9 o'clock main junction. the GPS will bring you one round clockwise around the moat, it is not wrong but you can in fact turn into the inner moat road which runs the opposite direction and get to your destination faster.

so don't forget to use brains when using the GPS. hahahaha

sometimes near a destination i start following the signs instead of the GPS.

at the foot of Doi Inthanon, the GPS pointed at another direction but I just followed the road signs.
