I didn't know that Auto Machinery is a Yamaha parts dealer, I thought they only sell the battery for Yamaha.

If I know that they are their dealer, I might have got the brake pad from them as well

I also thought that getting parts from a dealer should be cheaper.

Anyway I went to Hong Leong first to buy the pads and then ask for the battery which they quoted me $198.

I THINK Auto is a distributor for Yamaha's parts only.. Dealer is still Hong Leong.

Anyway, I've always compared the prices of HL and Auto and Auto always turn out to be cheaper. Thats y i'm very surprised that u got the pad from them so cheaply..

For our mirrors, HL quoted me $77, Auto $55.

Stupid me oso bot the 15amp fuse from HL at $1.50 when i can get from Sim Lim at $0.80...

Btw, did anyone of u use HIFLO oil filter instead of OEM? I have one but dun dare to use.. The diameter is the same but our's is longer...

i wud prefer OEM still.. though more expensive.... but gives mi a peace of mind in the long run....

Anyway... is the HIFLO oil filter cheaper?? 'coz at least HIFLO is still m/cycle filter... ask mi to use car filter... still have my doubts unless scienctifically proven.

Tink it wud benefit us all if u guyz can help do up a list of parts... the price n where we can get it from...... wud realli help those in future who needs to save~ :thumb:

Deanz, u need to take out the dash panel.. the one on the rite and the one on the upper rite... It'll be slower the first time but after a few times, u'll get used to it.. It'll look sth like whats shown in the pic after that...

After that, REMOVE THE -VE Terminal FIRST... Den positive.

Den remove the mounting bracket and u can take the battery out liao...

Actually, the takin out of the dash panels is the most difficult part in this job. The rest is quite straight forward...

Did it today, quite easy actually, about half an hours job.

Like what Omnislash wrote, the taking out the two panels is the more difficult part, the rest are quite straight forward.

Here goes:

Remove panel "D", three 4mm allen screws and slowly shift out the panel.

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

Next remove panel "C", two 4mm allen screws and one quick fastener at the center of the dash board below the speed & tacho meter. (position indicated by the screw driver in the photo)

To remove the quick fastener, use a small allen key to push the center of the quick fastener in and it will be loose, then just pull it out slowly without dropping the inner piece.

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

Battery fully exposed, nearly

Next remove the battery clamp with a 5mm allen key and you will see another plastic plate covering the sides of the battery.

This plate is secure with three quick fastener. Remove them.

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

Remove the negative terminal connection first with a 10mm spanner,

take precaution not to allow it to touch any metal surface.

Then remove the positive terminal connection and twist it out so that it do not touch any metal parts of the bike.

Pull out the used battery and replace with new battery and do the reverse.

The following photo shows the three pieces of plastic taken out from bike to access to the battery.

To replace the rear brake pads is very easy, just remove ONE 12mm bolt "Pin" with a ring or socket spanner.

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

Then swing out the "hydraulic piston" to expose the brake pads.

Take out brake pads together with their shims to replace.

I found that I still have about 2mm of brake pads to use, so decided to replace them later when it wears down to about 1mm thickness.

Please remember not to depress the foot brake pedal after the hydraulic piston had been swing out from brake pads or else you might have a hard time pushing the piston back in to accomodate the new or used brake pads.

Stay away from the foot pedal until you have finished the job. :cheer:
