A week ago,my brother & I went to the outlet @ KakiBukit to change engine oil & spark plug for his Wave .

 

i asked 1 of your mechanic to suggest the THICKEST ENGINE OIL AVAIL as the CASTROL(20-50) he is currently using is not that good..

1 of your mechanic there-by, TOLD ME that the OWS(5-60) was the thickest avail..

When i asked him to compare with Maxima (20-50), he "confidently" said that it was the thickest engine oil avail there..

I also questioned him about why he said the Back No. of the Engine Oil is to take note & not the Front No.

 

After riding out of Unique,then i felt the difference that it is VERY THIN EO & NOT THE THICK AS I EXPECTED...

By The Way, i asked the mechanic for the thickest EO as the bike milage is ard 60k km ..

What i need is thick,as in PROTECTION for the engine.

 

IN CONCLUSION.

This incident, has then brought set-back to me about how knowledgeable your mechanic were as compared to last time. I hope something could be done to prevent future misunderstanding between your customer & you,Unique Motorsports

very sorry to have heard about ur bad experience ... these are the sought of misunderstandings that customers would prefer to avoid ... and having experienced one, i know u r boiling @ the moment ... but do spare me a minute of ur time to clarify some of ur issues ...

 

i myself did some research online b4 saying something and what i have found out is similar to what was mentioned by Bro 4th_Espada ... forget about the 1st number in the rating written on the bottle ... we in Singapore are more concerned about the rear number ...

 

the rear number on the engine oil bottle is derived from its apparent thickness ... therefore the thicker the oil the higher the number ... Bro 4th_Espada is also right about the fact that 2 similarly rated oils may deliver varying results ... it is therefore up to the customer to find what suits his/her riding style ...

 

it is also to my understanding that Wave does not require such a high end rated oil. They work very well for bigger bikes as they produce huge amounts of heat ... was previously using OWS 900 (5W 60) when i was riding my R1 ... if u were looking for a fully synthetic oil, OWS 800 (10W 40) should have done the trick in the 1st place ...

 

it was not like a scenario where u asked for an opinion and the mechanic gave u something u did not like ... but since u had asked the mechanic what was the thickest oil available, his response to you the 5W 60 was the thickest is not in any way wrong ... all he did was compare the last digits and came to a conclusion that 5W 60 was the thickest oil ... if u had asked me i would have told you the same thing ... he went on the further explain to u the same thing that has been mentioned here that u only had to take note of the last digits, which i must emphasise is again not wrong ...

 

ur comments regarding the competency of Unique's mechanics is therefore unfair ... if u had known about the definition of Viscosity in the 1st place, and found another oil with a rating of higher than 60 at the shop then u would have a point ...

 

i do understand that Unique Motorsports does not promote its services as such as to decieve customers but more of one where they engage customers closely to meet up to their expectations as close as they can ...

hi..currently riding a gsx r k7 750...needed some advice from you,thus,can i trouble you with estmated price quotation of the undermentioned items:

 

1) Putty and spray painting of fairings?mostly right hand side,

2) master brake pump assemble oem/aftermarket(of maybe can diy fix),

My intention of writing this Quick Reply is to thank Unique for providing the best motorcycle service, at the best price. Period.

 

I was in need of a new set of sprocks n chain after 35000km, and thank God I made the journey from Jurong to Ubi. It was worth it. Initially I went to a certain shop that I regularly go to in Bt Merah, and the price they quote for AFAM F&R Sprocks w/DID Chain 520 Convert = $350. Whoa knnccb. And the guy who told me this was NOT a mechanic, just some ahpui helping out at the shop. Whoa cheetot. I immediately called Unique, was quoted $280 (what a f**king difference!), and im so glad I travelled all the way there (didnt I say that alrdy?).

 

Yes people are willing to pay a higher price for better service, but seriously, $70 will never justify the difference in workmanship when all there is to it is a change of sprockets and chain. If only I was mechanically inclined then I wouldnt be faced with such things.

 

To the guy who commented about being recommended the 'wrong' engine oil, this is my honest opinion: that the mechanic did NOT, in any way, lie or cheat or manipulated or tricked you or your brother. Deltaboi and 4th Espada were right on cue regarding this issue too. I've only been patronising Unique for abt 5mths but I think everyone knows they wont resort to such incumbent policies just to sell their name.
