i know what you mean.

 

i rode a 929 previously. fantastic bike. good for trashing. anyone could ride fast on it. good brakes, suspension, handling, usable powerband. could out corner a cbr1000 too.

but a bit uncomfortable and ugly.

but thats about it.

 

the zed is definitely NOT a honda. to ride fast on a Z takes rider participation. to keep up with your friends on the sports bikes takes serious work. they ease into a corner, you'll have to lean already. and dont think about using some banana fingers grab on the brakes or a handfull of throttle anytime, anywhere, especially not in the corners. trust me.

 

but on sportbikes, you to really go to extremes to feel the joy of riding, on the zed, the thrill comes faster. And you actually FEEL like youre riding a real sh1tkicking motorcycle. Not some golf cart.

 

i dunno how to tell you this.....the zed is more fun... really...

 

you must give it some time, youll end up liking the zed very much.

my last kawasaki was a stock Niner which i took only on the track.

If the Z1000 engine is indeed an improvement of the Niner (which I'm sure it is) then it's certainly fit for the track with some minor adjustments to the ergonomics

 

Have taken a short spin with the Z1000 and i must say it's very easy to handle. So although it's not made to corner like a sportsbike, it will still be a very fun bike to take to the tracks.

 

That said, i will not be taking any bike onto the tracks for now.

The older one gets, the less commitments to oneself one gives.

hope i can find a nice one soon.

 

retuned for low end kicks. top end, never rode a nine so dunno.., but the nine is still in the z there, some engine tweaks and the bugger is out for blood.

a niner…. 5 years on & the thing still looks good. Try to say that for a yamazooki.

about ergos, comparison to a sports bike, ergos are plush.

But for track, suspension and brakes might need some help. Don’t think there is an immediate need for a pc3.

also it needs to breathe...mod anything up or downstream the intake and exhaust…. So many things… fiddle with it as you wish.

 

Saw a black fz1N recently, on paper looks impressive, in real life…for all the evil blackness, the bike look a bit like cartoon. the tailboard is the fault. horrible.

anyway everyone says the Z looks better and has bigger balls, for models pre 07 at least.

07…. Looks a bit…..overboard... Felt a bit disappointed when I saw it. again, need getting used to? too many angles... confusing to look at...

But ugly is always better than funny. People stare in horror and cover their arse instead of laughing and pointing at you.

actually i agree with what u've said.The zed is so cyber looking even though it was designed few yrs back.But it indeed is a drinker.I get 17km/L w/o really pushing it's limit.Juz normal cruising.

Excellent condition for a 2ndhand Z1000.

I'm two hearts only becos i cant make up my mind whether to simply get a bump-around bike or a superbike like this just to do groceries.....
