yes it's true. sometime irritating.

i myself ride a yamaha x1. the backfire comes in un-intentionally.

especially from a fast speed to a slow speed when coming to traffic lights.

some times it scares the hell outta me.

truth is some cubs like Yamaha X1 can backfire when it is absolutely not the intention of the rider to do so

even some of the stock bikes will backfire

tdy juz saw a FBB plate X1 OTR backfired twice softly when slowing down for traffic lights

Thats more of afterfire that backfire...Backfire happens when you have leaks near the intake manifold area(the place where your carb joins to the engine) or your engine Air/Fuel ratio is too lean. Backfire happens during idling also,it pops and the engine stall.(I had this experince while servicing those army scramblers)

 

Like i mention before,afterfire happen on deceleration or downshifts,this is due to the engine running momentarily rich(certain RPM). If you dont want this afterfire thing to happen,you can rejet the carbs and clean the airfilter.

Just saw a KTM DUke backfires with blue flame.. its not so loud but the thumping sound is very nice... Yes. Gilera with backfires are such irritating MF

hmmm... juz got my cbr... JbAtRaCeR is rite... wheneva i down gear frm high speed there ll b tis popin sound frm the exhuast its not loud its like soft thumpin tts all.. onli sometimes it ll gif a loud pop but dun tink its loud enuf to gif others a heart atk or attract attention and seriously i HATE gileras! its irritatin and its dangerous when u ride near it cos when it pops u kena stun and den u nva take note of the road... wonder wat happens next siol...

yea cos i juz find tt the reason y bike accidents occur r sometimes due to drivers... esp taxi drivers... they either drive too slowly... or they rushin like no 1's bus and they do things withou caing much for bikers and worst still... some drivers change into my lane withou even givin a damn abt whelther im there anot... they noe im there cos i honk them... and seriously... these bloody drivers shld understand how tough bikin is bein the smallest vehicle and class on the road!

Had a female rider cut me at a traffic light in front of tamp mall a few months back. Her drz backfired in my face. And the engine stopped. Couldn't start. Had to push to the side. I just watched her struggle to push the bike, i'm sure if she can cut me and backfire into my face she can push the bike by herself

There are some drivers who knows you are there after you horn and they they still cut into your lane.

i get this very much often and sometimes thought about replacing my horn. Its more of a safety issue to me then spending money on loud pipes. Thought its just my opinion. the thing is, i find out that changing of horns is illegal. Haizz...

lol... the first thing when my mechanic did tuning for my bike pc3 during dynorun is to eliminate backfire which will destroy ur ignition system.
