I had wanted to ask you, my dear biker, on your favorite EPL team. However, due to limited options I can make to you on this forum and discovering the rather 'pointlessness' of it all, my mind wandered about... the sublime win of Arsenal over Aston Villa in one half, the gutting feeling I had when my beloved Saints conceded yet another late, late goal to settle for a draw at St. Mary's with Everton....then i pondered about Chelsea's goalless draw with Man City...

Let's Face It.

Moneybags Chelsea is building a Roman Empire. Cash is king and no one will stop them with their bottomless coffers- they can afford to buy Mutu for 13 million pounds and WRITE HIM OFF, translated into layman's terms it means throwing away a asset worth 13million pounds for nothing.

Did I mention that they still have Juan Sebastian Veron and Hernan Crespo on 50% of their individual wage bill with Chelsea? That's 2 World Class Players that would walk into any team in the world, arguably.

Economic Scarcity definitely doesnt apply to them, they have unlimited resources and is limited only by the manager's abilities and individual egos. With the astute management of Jose Mourinho and a bunch of good ol' English lads up at 'The Bridge', I wouldn't expect them to break up that quickly. What's the big deal? Just write him off (I'm Thinking Joe Cole if he doesnt get into Mourinho's good books and starts whining like Craig Bellamy or starts driving like Jermaine Pennant!) and buy another one!

All good things MUST come to an end, but it will surely make for interesting reading in the future regarding Chelsea in this era, just like Liverpool's demise into oblivion in the early '90s and arguably, Manchester United's in this new millenium. So what's your take?

Yes, the above options might be a little harsh as it would probably take a combination of all of them (or more) to topple Chelsea FC, but could it be possible to pinpoint your personal opinion on the one reason that they would fall?

This should be interesting.

Or perhaps the vast majority loves Chelsea? I certainly hope not.

Please cast your vote and feel free to post any of your views!

I certainly hope this makes for interesting reading for your Reunion Dinner Appetiser!

Have A Very Happy Chinese New Year,

OKL

i can only forsee chelsea becoming stronger next season.. why? because they made a team in 1 season that's winning everything.. indivudualists i conclude because there is NO way teamwork can be formed in 8 months!

wait till chelsea gel as a team and i think that would be the end of the EPL :cheeky:

gonna be much like the scottish league.. expected winners every season!

on the contrary, chelsea might turn over-confident.. which is the main reason arsenal fell... :sian:

arsenal were playing brilliant football 3/4 towards the end of the last season then u could see that they are not closing down the players and not dping enough off the ball running... i expected it to happen anyway..

the same thing might happen to chelsea but i won't jump to conclusions..

just wait and see what happens.. :p

btw.... i'm a GOONER.. :cheer:

If he leaves the club too early then chealsea might loose get heavy in-debt and start to loose players n might even turn out to be like Leeds, but......... If he leaves later after chealsea had a strong foot holding then it won't be a problem. Roman's vision was to make chealsea not only independent but to also generate money into his pocket.

He sees chealsea to be then next 'ManU'. Having their own brand, merchandise and etc. The BIG question is will he give up on the team if they don't meet his expectations this season.

yo nickyhayden,

you might be right, but i would think that to build a merchandise like manchester united would take years rather than just a few seasons, not to mention years of success and expert marketing.

with the amount of money he already invested in the team/facilities, i think to get his ROI back would take a really long time.

im still inclined towards the plaything approach.

im already beginning to sense a massive hate campaign going on for chelsea...

as a sidenote, i really DO NOT want to see malcolm glazer take over manchester united, or they may become manchester untied...

i like this one article, it makes good sense:

MP joins Anti-Glazer protests

Manchester United fans have warned Malcolm Glazer that they will take their battle against his takeover bid to Parliament and beyond.

The influential Shareholders United group have been backed by the Manchester Central MP Tony Lloyd, an SU patron and chair of the Parliamentary Manchester United Group.

Lloyd tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament today claiming the bid was 'against the interests of those supporters and football'.

Shareholders United vice-chairman Oliver Houston confirmed his group would attempt to take their fight against Glazer to the highest offices in the land.

Houston said: 'We will fight this battle in Parliament, on the Stock Exchange and through the courts if we have to. There is so much at stake and we will do everything we can to defend our club.'

United's board are still deciding whether to allow Glazer access to their books as takeover talk intensifies.

Lloyd's Early Day Motion reads:

-That this house notes the renewed attempt to take over Manchester United PLC by Malcolm Glazer and his company, Tampa Bay Buccaneers American Football franchise.

-Recognises that senior players Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand have spoken out against the bid.

-Recalls that the overwhelming majority of Manchester United supporters oppose the bid.

-Believes that any takeover designed to transform the club into a private company would be against the interests of those supporters and football.

-Considers that profit increases in ticket and merchandise prices in order to increase shareholder return would conflict with the club's wider obligations.

-Accepts that football clubs differ from other trading companies in owing real accountability to their customers, the supporters.

-Calls upon the Premier League and the football authorities to use the powers that they have to ensure that full information about the benefits and disbenefits of this bid to football in general and Manchester United in particular be placed in the public domain.

-Is aware that bankers NM Rothschild are backing this bid.

-Calls on them to issue a statement explaining how they intend to measure support for this takeover from football supporters in line with statements that that is their intention.

-And reiterates its request to the Department of Trade and Industry to take steps to regulate any takeover on public interest grounds.

I agree that a lot of the money has poured out n soo far none is coming it. And to generate money back into his pocket would take yrs, at least 5 yrs. So far there was an article stating that there r no more new faces in the squad after the end of this seasons unless it includes a trade or selling off a player. And the board has set a target of self-independent by the end of next season.

I do a agree its his plaything, but with the sudden interest of many rich investors in buying clubs. A whole new game will begin. I can see that one day more than half of the league teams will have a rich investor backin them up, n u know wat rich ppl like to do. They wanna show off! Who has a better team, who won wat, n etc...........

So let the GAME of the rich begun!!!

I know this will spoil the whole faith, believe and meaning of Soccer but it seems that its unavoidable. :nono: :nono: :nono:

pisses me off to no end in fact...

what do you guys think of the UEFA quota of homegrown players?

i just think that they dont want certain countries to be stronger than others, thus creating an unbalance in power.

as much as we like to reward based on merits, one cannot but help think that certain countries do tend to produce better footballers- a very controversial statement indeed i know.

im not entirely sure that it'll work, but im sure it'll damage the running of the clubs...

very difficult issue, would like to hear your views.

seems to me tat lampard IS their midfield maestro.. n therefore, if onli he's out n sum other key players like drogba, chelsea is nuting but an ordinary team like others.. PLUS! without d dirty tactics from the special one wud bring chelsea down to the old chelsea..

I cant believe some Chelsea fans still remain Chelsea fans after the takeover and dominance crap. My Chelsea-supporting friends totally got disgusted by their methods to take it all and i totally respect them.
