Hi anyone knows abt HL cycle at Kaki bukit ave?

Autobay at level 2?

How was the services?

My last experience was about 2years ago and it looks like the same when i pass by there. There is a dedicated sales guy, dedicated mechanics and their office staff.

For servicing, I only have experience for phantom bike with them a few times then.

I would not go for Direct Asia if Im you. Bad experience. I would rather pay back for a much better service and coverage.

Is that the reason why their prices are half as much as Axa and other companies?

Hi guys,

Anyone know of any servicing shops or workshops around the Orchard/Somerset/River Valley area? Or anywhere nearest to that location?

I was hoping to head down during lunch to service my bike one of these days.

Thanks in advance!

Wow. Maybe I should start one myself too, with regards to the different bikes Ive used.

Workshops/Motor Tiams/ Whatever names you call them that Ive been to for the past 6 years and their rating/comments:

Hua Chin: Overall Rating - 6 (Initially was ok. Depends on which mechanic. The fat one sucks. After kena chopped once or twice, nvr gg there again unless for simple maintenance).

Unique Motorsports (Toh Guan) - 8 (Fixed Prices, Friendly sales/mechanic. Sometimes they don't have parts and have to order, need to wait a bit longer, will tell you which parts are spoilt but won't ask you to replace unless really have to).

ExcelCycle - 7.5 (Only serviced there twice so far but mechanic very friendly, knowledgeable and prices quite ok. Not many parts available)

A.S.Phoon (Toh Guan) - 6 (Simple servicing, after sales not so good. Price is ok. Don't stock up parts either).

Albert - 5 (Been once or twice. Not very friendly).

HKL - 7.5 (Can be a bit ex. Some mechanics are good, some are not. Have most parts).

Sunrise - 7 (Generally ok for Gilera/ Scooters. Cheaper than going to other places for servicing).

Future Scootering - 6.5 (Service and knowledge is good from the boss. But be careful, he has a glib tongue and good at sales).

Forgot where other places Ive been to. Will post more once I do. This is from my personal experience.

Thanks for the info. Hope to hear more from your experience with these workshops

I second that. Ah Koon is great. And the part about him being friendly. I second that too.

Good for phantoms and small bikes. But I won't advise going on weekday lunchtimes which i did. He'll be gone to run errands etc unless if it's a simple service with cash payment. His dad could do that. It's a small family business and served me well during the 5 yrs i rode my good old phantom.

Hi,

I just got my 2b license and like to get a 2nd hand bike. Anyone can introduce a reliable motor tiam that sell reliable motor and provide good aftersale service? Also future servicing. I don't know anything about bike so i hope i wont get chop head by motor tiam.

Read a lot review about different motor tiam and kinda confused.

guys, never really contributed to this thread as services obtain weren't exactly out of the world nor particularly bad. However, yesterday think i experienced one of the "by-far-the-best" experience i had..

last tuesday went to unique kaki bukit to fit some hella horns on my wave125r. darn was it loud.. long story short.. it was fitted behind my wave center cover and buzzing occurs during driving.. it wasnt loud rattling.. but more or less it was still audible and i was quite irritated by it..

so yesterday i headed down to unique toh guan to change my EO and spark plug. i was attended to by a young mechanic and casually mentioned about the buzzing. after the change of EO and spark plug he opened the center cover up to investigate where the buzzing came from.

what surprised me was:

1) i mentioned it was installed at unique kaki bukit, but didnt have any receipts or anything to prove it. no calls to kaki bukit were made to confirm this. typically for most shops, i believe unless the mech remembers you, they will ask for a receipt print out to justify any labor cost if applicable.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION(joy of riding) as opposed to verifying previous installation was from their shop.

2) I thought it will be an "open-up and cable-tie everything operation" like a simple fix. but no, my entire hella system was removed.. relocated entire wiring within the center cover, fabricated new brackets for the hella horns.. (fabricated from 6.5"x0.75"x0.2" metal plate and those dont come cheap)

PROFESSIONALISM(no short cuts)

3) the system was plug up, tested repeatedly, steering was checked to see if any wiring obstructed the rotation. after all these was done, the center cover was not closed. I was asked to have a look and see if i'm satisfied before closing. That to me was the big part, i dont see alot mechs getting their customers involved in the process, this to me is important. the vehicle is yours, so you should dictate how you want it to be. secondly, knowing how everything is lay out increases your technical knowledge of the vehicle and allow you to remedy any problems if it occurs.

CUSTOMER INVOLVEMENT

4) i was asked to pay $12 bucks for the castrol eo and regular spark plug package. not a single cent more for the hella horns, nor the fabricated brackets.

AFTER SALES SERVICE

in summary, i paid $12 for a 5-min service (EO and Spark plug change), and the horn re-installing was approx 45min. very very very satisfied with the outcome.

thanks unique,

Chris.

does it mean that I should visit Unique in toh guan instead of kaki bukit? :cheeky:

Juz got back from picking up my bike from Unique at Toh Guan. Been there for all my repairs so far.Got a wiring problem after I change my headlamp & my front brake has no grip. Attended by 2 guys whom note down my problems & will relay it to the mechanic. A bit disappointing when they call me back 45 min later to inform that the brake problem was due to worn out brake disc & pad which will cost me $300+ new brake pad. I cut short the explanation & inform them that I think it was bleeding problem as there is no pressure on the brakes when apply. Brake disc & pads if worn out or warped will either have a screeching sound as they rub metal against metal or the handle vibrate when braking. The caller then confirm with me that I wanted to do brake bleeding instead. Fix my wiring & brake bleeding cost me $45. (not sure if they really do the bleeding cuz the brake nipple & pressure release brake nut seems like untouched). Anyway, it does the job anyway.
