IU unit

i inserted my cashcard into my IU unit. it lights up and shows $5.97.

i went past 4 gantry, after that i took out my cashcard and inserted in again, the cash balance is still $5.97.

today, i went past 1 gantry together with my friend on another bike, he's cashcard got deduct $1. but mine is still $5.97.

 

should i go to inspection centre or LTA to get it fix? or should i wait for the letter to come ?

Wait for the letter to come.

 

The upcomping letter won't include a fine though; it'll simply state that you'll have to go down to any inspection centres to have it checked by a stated due date.

 

However, if there should be a fine, get ready to appeal. At least you've got a valid reason.

 

FYI: Bring that cashcard along in question for both abovementioned cases.

Yup.. No letter u go for what? Too much $$? LoLxx.. Joking.. Just wait for the letter if there's any.. Appeal sure pass.. Cuz u will be required to do a test over at the test centre... So no worry dude..

for my case, my IU taps power from pole lights when i start up the engine...

 

so ignition on also no power to IU... so if put card in BEFORE start engine, card sometimes dun get detected.. and due to my negligent, never re-insert before passing gantries...

 

inspection pass can waive the charges?

You don't need to pay when your IU is being inspected by the technician.

 

If your IU is faulty, a replacement comes free of charge (your letter states that the warranty of your IU still stands)

and remeber.. wen u wanna go inspection, make sure the wire is connected to ur battery..if they find out tat its tap to other source, ur warranty will be void

nah... doesnt get spoilt for the almost one year i'm using it... works well...

 

except the cash card part lah... haha...

 

about your friend's IU on an XR400... IU put on a scrambler... confirm spoil one lah... tested and proven.. too much vibrations...

Haha.. i got the same problem as you. Some months ago i received the inspection letter, so i went. The technician said that my IU muz put in front (mine is at the fairing below the handle bar).

 

But i didnt change the position. Between that first inspection and now i have gone thro ERP gantries 30+ times already (those in operation).. Total deduct only around $2.. all the other times the gantry didnt detect.

 

Monday I received another letter asking me to go for inspection again. So i plan to go to another inspection centre to avoid meeting the same technician.. haha

 

(BTW today some ****er stole my cashcard when i parked outside orchard towers. Hope he accident on his way home)
