thanks enfant and ANR Impex for the replies

guess i will consider keeping the coolant ard for another few months then get it replaced

will continue to monitor the temp gauge closely

anyway i notice that pple tend to recommend a 50%-50% glycerol and distilled water mixture

however, this Shell ready mix states on its bottle a 33.3% concentration

is this supposed to be good or bad?

:cheeky:

Before that, can I ask you how much you paid for how many liters of Shell coolant?

Hi,

got a prob, whenever my bike gets hot, the coolent reservoir level will get higher when i stop my bike and see, and if i ride longer the coolent will start leaking from the excess rubber tube to the road.I will have to keep topping up coolent or water whenever the coolent leak. i wonder what is the problem with my super 4 and is it a serious prob.

can anybody pls advise.

Thank you.

You should have the coolant between the high and low lines when cool. If you top up the reserve coolant tank to full, it will always leak out when hot.

If you're getting alot of spillover even when the coolant level is correct, then it most likely your coolant pressure cap is spoilt, replace it.

I'll just pay $18 for the roughly 2L of Cool Aide next time I change coolant instead of the $12 for 2L of the Shell. Performance wise definately superior.

Sorry bros for my ignorance..........

I think it's nearly 22 years since i rode a bike with a coolant radiator : -Honda MBX125

Now i am riding a Spark 135

I haven't done any DIY on my baby yet.

Hope you guys will enlighten me on a question.

Anybody seen what is the original colour of the coolant in the Spark 135 before they DIY change the coolant?

The colour can also clue to what type of coolant the bikes distributor is using.

Much appreciated

We don't retail this, sold only to workshops for servicing. You might want to get the workshop to do the flushing for you, this is actually very impt to get the coolant to work at its best. I know Bikeworkz is pretty competitive in price. Else can try K&T, Combine, Unity, Racewerks, Tachyon, Looi's etc, they stock this concentrate product.

how guys.. my cbr 400 got tis prob which i may need ur advice.. when travelling for a short while the heat meter will rise to 3/4.. and when i stop coolant will flush out from pipe below.. i went to mech to check they say maybe gasket spoilt but hopefully is the pump.. they checked and found out pump spoilt and changed it.. now the heat got better but still rise to half.. still worst is coolant still got flush out like free whenever i stop.. is it really the gasket and radiator got prob? or i need to change radiator cap, flush coolant and replace wif new to see for improvement?

I bought a bottle of cool aide concentrate from Loois Motor last friday for $20 ( 1pint). The instruction say 1 pint is good for 3-4 gallons (1 gallon=8 pint). 3 gallons =11.35liters. Mixing ration is (1:3x8) --> 1:24

It might be old stock coz ANR Impex say he dun supply them for retail anymore. It could also be parrallel imports.

Looi's stock is for their own workshop use. Anyway, didn't you just flushed your coolant a few months ago? The stuff is proven to stay as good as the day it is put in for at least 18 months. This bottle will last you beyond the current COE of your bike, which is 1st reason it is not retailed.

I hope you don't keep adding the concentrate, there is no 'top up' required, as it is verified there is no fade in performance with 18 months of use.

There is no guarantee of safe usage if incorrect dosing is used. By my experience, various people (including mechanics) have all kind of theories on how much of concentrate coolants (various brands I am referring to here) is safe to use, sometimes with disastrous results. This is the 2nd reason it is not retailed. Shops using Cool Aide concentrate are drilled with the correct application practice.

The ready to use is much more popular because even the majority of shops find mixing correctly to be a hassle.

Dun trust what 1 shop said only. Becoz of that prob i went to 3 different bike shops they all say different things. Like block crack gasket spoilt pump spoilt thermosat spoilt. All nt cheap at all. But i still go to my trusted mech. And check everything and tell me try change de raditor cap top coolent and ask me to monitor. So until now my coolient nt boiling and spitting anymore.

I'm currently using Maxima Cool-Aide coolant and I must say that it is definitely better than Engine Ice. Using Amsoil EO seems to help as well. My bike's temperature does not go up so fast and at cruising speed, the temperature is around 85 to 90 degrees. Previously when I used Engine Ice with Yamaha fully synthetic EO, the temperature will be above 95 degrees at cruising speed... :giddy:

one of the best coolent so far for me.

A specific brand of EO will not make your bike run cooler or hotter. The heat difference by EO is purely dependant on the viscosity and to a very limited extent, the type of base oil. If you're comparing 2 fully syn of the exact same viscosity (this goes beyond what you can read from the bottle labels), you will get the same temp response.

A thinner oil will warm up faster but run cooler if u measure the sump temp, it acts just like performance coolant because the more fluid nature transfer heat faster.

A thicker oil will warm up slower but run hotter sump temp for the same reasons.

how to check temp? on the bike? where got thermometer?

bro bo pian one.. from wat u say, top up so much.. u need to go weld already.. those mix which claim can "seal " the holes are useless if its too big.. its either rust or theres a hole from a fall..

best go weld..

Most class 2 and up have a digital coolant temp readout.

Oh please do not pour in those stop leak products, I have seen entire radiators ruined this way. The leak is clogged, but so are the coolant ducts and cooling efficiency becomes terrible. Take it out and get it welded at a radiator specialty shop, couple in Ubi itself along the bike shop area. Or push in let bikeshop settle.
