    • Yeah, I let the engine running at idling speed for a few minutes.
    • No, what for? Waste of petrol.
    • Depends, usually will if have not started engine for a period of time.

comm'omn guys.. warm up doesnt mean warm till what temp!! temp is just a guide... acutuallly, is to let the oil flow naturally to all parts of engine before moving off.. cos 80% wear n tear comes during start of bike!!

Yes, warming up is to allow the engine oil to flow thru engine. Without sufficient heat, the engine will not be fully expand, particularly cylinder. So when the engine is fully expand, the engine oil can flow more smoothly.

For me, I warm up my bikes abt 2-3minutes then move off slowly for the first 5minutes, then ride normally.

If rushing, after abt 30s of idling, then me rev till abt 3k rpm for abt 30s then rode off slowly for abt 1-2minutes, then ride fast to destination.

Both of these is after I parked my bike for more than 8hrs.

Be happy always :-)

THe engine knows nothing other than its rpm, so when you are driving down the street and not accelerating hard it is possible you will never go above 3000rpm and never exceed say 4000-6000rpm . this is not going to hurt your engine, its only going to increase the rate at which it warms up, not matter how fast the engine is turning the oil will always move relative to it.

i heard before that mechanic told me to go higher rpm before last gear....

sometime i'm at gear 6 already only at 80km/hr.

and difficult to go to 100km/hr

so isst true ah ?

Also y my bike go 100km/h a lil rough, vibrating makes me a lil scared to go above 110km/hr ...should i be feeling this ??

( FX spec III)

or u guys felt the same after 100km/h

I also have this feeling but due to vabration? I think rather is the amount of cars around mi. I can happily curise at 150-160km/h at NSH but in sing, I am scare of spd cams, crazy cabbies, lorries and chnaging lane with signelling etc.......

Just a habit.. When i just start my bike in the morning...Can hear tapet clicking, timeing chain sound and all other sound. Idling speed also quite low. After about 3 minutes, exhaust air is warm, sounds disappear, then i ride of. Riding slow to warm up is ok. But just prefer to let it warm up a while before moving. Habit.

Anyway, who bothers to keep below 3k rpm for the first 3 minutes on the road...

william.. i do hear my tapet clickin sometimes when i start my bike.. wat does tat imply ? do i need to change anything ? kinda concerned cos i ride my bike quite hard..

Hmmm how can the amount of cars make ur bike vibrate ..hmmmm interesting....

i think u mean cannot go above 100km/hr

about 110km/hr still as smooth as 90km/hr??

nt really say vibrate. is when u squeeze between cars, esp big lorries/buses. due to restriction in airflow(the gap bet the vehicle beside ur bike), ur ride will tend to drift closer. this is called the bernoulli's effect. the flow lines r compressed n rushed faster, resulting in a drop of fluid pressure. it is esp felt if u drive a small car, moderately hi speed, close to those orange white barriers. ur car will start to drift towards the side. :giddy:

another effect felt is drafting. this is very slight occurence at very hi speeds(nt advisable).the veh infront will sort of create a so called vacuum effect behind his path. if u r lyong within this zone, less air resistance will be felt n etc etc...

yah, regarding higher rev b4 gear shifting, Ah Kiong at combine motortiam also instructed me to rev to a slightly higher rpm b4 going up the gears to achieve higher speed.

This was cause i complained to him tt my s4 seem sluggish and seems to have poor pickup. Of course tt was when i am still new to my bike, very unconfident handling, so keep tickling the bike at low rpms when i should have rev it gradually up the range.

I can personally vouch tt my ver S has no prob hitting 100km/hr (or even more) if i rev it sufficiently through the gears.

But beware, dun over rev til red line! :giddy:

the trick is to throttle gradually and feel the pickup of each gear for a second b4 u kick to higher gear (usually i switch at ard rpm 4k for my ver s).

Think for NSR u need to rev more as it is a 2-stroke racing bike, dif from 4-strokers.

But make sure ur bikes are sufficiently warmed up b4 u go up the rpm.

i think this is abit :offtopic: to warming up of engine......

anyway.... tats way ppl say drag gear to go faster..... changing each gear at a higer rpm will help achive a higher speed range.....

if you riding a spec3.. it comes with vtec. means at 100 to 110km/hr your vtec should open by now and this will cause the bike to change in the way it vibrates.....

hope this help....

I feel there is no need for getting worked up over such issue. Unless controlled testing is done, no one can honestly tell you for sure that its the fact. What you can get, is testimonials like from ads of beauty and slimming products.

I warm up my bike before moving off. Other than the fact that i smoke, the engine is much smoother after my 2-3 min stationary warming up session. So when i finally move off, i can rev the engine freely and enjoy my ride. If i'm in a hurry, i rev the engine to 2-2.5K rpm while warming up.
