I know this is :offtopic:... but can someone look into this matter... The timing of our postings on SBF is really weird... I posted my comments this morning at about 10+ am... and the timing says 1.45am... there is something wrong with the timestamp... Please do look into this matter! Thanks!!!

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

Guys, i have been interested in stunt riding for quite awhile, and i was experimenting with a new technique yesterday on the roads of Sillypore.

I recall someone mentioning about "wiggling the handlebars" to give the illusion of "loosing control" when your bike wobbles when you travel in a straight line.

So i was thinking, why not take it one step further. Don't try this unless you are properly geared in a safe environment and have changed to new tires.

I call it "chasing the fishy" or "controlled fish-tailing"... not suitable for use with phantom for obvious reasons. It is performed at low speeds 40-60km/h. Higher speeds are possible but more difficult and that one once loose control GG.

You have to synchronize your hands and your hip movement, pushing the handle bars in one direction and wiggling your hips in another direction. So its like push bars to the right, throw ur hips to the left and do the opposite again. The effect will be an artificial fishtail when it is actually a figure S.

I tried in with some idiot tailgater(s) @ clementi road, one black lexus SUV was riding up my rear tire, i blinked tail lamps first before throwing Debbie Gibson (my blue beast,YBR125) into a fishtail, let him chase it. He immediately slow down and rapid fire tap horn! I filtered left and let him pass, getting weird stares from him and his girlfriend, their eyes were as wide as saucers!!

Every time i execute this maneuover, the rear car/bus/lorry/tank backs off immediately. No one wants to roll over this crazy biker who probably won't live to a ripe old age.

Pls understand that i do not condone stunt riding in traffic conditions, i wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and practise at the car park 100000000 times before executing them on the road. PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME.... i mean on the road.

Riders assunme all risks and responsibilities... and some responsibilities of idiot road users.... ytd almost accident, chao lorry cut from lane 1 to 3 despite horn warning twice... bo bian jam brake.

I consider anyone who intends to do what you did, that is to initiate a 'tank slapper'... a complete idiot with a death wish. And doing stunts on public roads.... now thats REALLY brilliant.

ey very dangerous lah.. SUV some more. even bmx bicycle i also scared to try

Posted

ya raptor is right. There are better ways to get rid of a tail gater without causing a danger to yourself and other road users, such as moving to the side or change lane. I was foolish and brain dead to try such things.

Posted (edited)

the artificial fish tail is not such a big deal lah. I've seen a youtube video on it before. Its not as exaggerating as mentioned by xrated. It only requires pushing the handlebars quickly on both sides. The bike only looks like its wobbling. There is not the slightest loss of control, and i'm even surprised the cager was stupid enough to be fooled in the vid.

I've tried wiggling before when there was no one else on the road. The bike doesn't fishtail, there are no S lines, it only looks like its wobbling, as per the vid I saw. Maybe I didn't do it right, but try it and you'll see its not as exaggerating as it sounds. Just quick light thrusts on the handlebars on both sides in quick succession, nothing more. Its like counter steering but changing directions before the bike responds and leans.

That said, I agree that there other faster and more effective methods to lose a tailgator. I haven't tried the induced wobbling method in a tailgating incident before. Although I do not intend to use it, I do not rule it out either. It is not a stunt; there are riders out there who use it effectively and safely enough to post a youtube vid on it.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

do the disco rear light by tempo beats on front brake freeplay. i dont travel on lane 1, so i dont get tailgated much, did this trick once and it works

EVERYDAY while riding, BKE-PIE Intersection sure jam/ slow traffic (Actually I think most expressway intersections and slip roads will jam?) Came across 2 things today:

1) Stupid drivers who insist on taking lane 1 all the way until after ERP then change lane to "cut queue" very slow traffic on left lanes, to go to city. Thereby effectively clogging up THE WHOLE expressway, because no space to squueze in, so they stop in lane 1 and 2 and try to filter left

Who are more idiotic? Big vehicles who at times hog a bit of traffic or "Ai Seh, I drive car wan lei!" Drivers who cut queue and clog up EVERYBODY?

If 1 or 2 cars "forget" to keep left early to go city, fine, benefit of the doubt - Freaking h@ll whole line of em..

***** *****

2) After this, go into PIE (Tuas) immediately jam/ slow traffic... So i go into "In between lanes" mode. All this while going "not-so-fast" to ensure dez some reaction time, gear 3 nia.

Freaking h@ll 1 TAXI driver go and purposely stick his butt out to the left and di xiao us riders, not just me, but others as well.

Purposely stick butt out nvm, he's in lane 1 and when dez plenty of room for him to speed up ald he still purposely go slowly, on par with lane 2 traffic, slowing all in lane 1, as if daring us riders "Come la, test ur skill, see u can squeeze past this small hole or not".

1 rider did, then when he really "in between" and "on par" with taxi liao the taxi speed up, maintaining the small hole to ensure no easy overtaking... Heng I change lane go Toh Tuck Ave liao... Taxi Ah Hia ah, u no nephew/niece or friend's child riding meh?

Wahahaz, u so hiong ah?

Though I agree feel like "dio-ing" him, it's still better to keep a distance from such drivers.

"Like attracts like" - Having such a hiong mentality, u may inevitably find urself attracting other "hiong" ppl for no reason.

They will very likely attract other more hiong ppl towards them anyway!

Meanwhile, I wanna zhng my air horn to BIA such drivers!
