OK. My mistake. Over-read was a bad term.

I meant that your pressures are higher than what is actually displayed on the gauge.

Heard that if you see 290kpA or 42PSI there, it might actually be higher. Overinflation.

Wonder if this is true, or the reverse.

Its usually the reverse. The actual pressures and lower than what is displayed on the stations' pump.

Don't you use digital tyre pressure gauge before your track sessions to check what's pumped in?

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

I have a fairly accurate tyre pressure guage, and it always reads 1-2PSI lower than the pump setting.

But noneed to loose sleep over this. Brainless drivers are more of a problem than inaccurate air pumps.

Ah good ballpark figure.

I'll simply take Fr:34 - Rr:40 PSI max as a reference off the pump station gauge then.

But usually I would prefer an accurate 1 to 2 PSI off the manufacturer's max recommended pressure. So I guess F33 - R38/39 for me would be good.

Snipped from AsiaOne News: report from Wanbao

Wah_Lau!!!...this type of Cab driver oso got!..hipe they can get the cab driver. Careful guys!

Cabby deliberately knocks over motorcyclist http://www.asiaone.com/a1media/site/common/blank.gif A cabby deliberately knocked over a motorcyclist after the two were involved in a road dispute, Chinese evening daily Wanbao reported.

According to witnesses, the cabby immediately left the scene after the motorcyclist fell over.

The incident turned into a car chase when a lorry driver who witnessed the incident gave chase.

The fracas occurred at the junction of Tampines Avenue 4 and Tampines Avenue 1 on July 30 at about 12.40pm.

Witnesses told Wanbao both the cabby and the motorcyclist were involved in an overtaking dispute earlier on.

Mr Tan Wen Chao, who witnessed the incident, told Wanbao that the cabby had horned at the motorcyclist after both stopped at the red light.

Both parties started arguing and the cabby made rude gestures at the motorcyclist, Mr Chen told Wanbao.

Mr Chen added, "I thought it was fine if both parties just sparred with words."

Mr Chen said then the lights turned green. Both cabby and motorcyclist began to move off.

But suddenly, the cabby swerved, knocked into the motorcyclist and sped off.

Other witnesses even added that it was the cabby's second attempt to knock over the motorcyclist. The first had failed.

The indignant Mr Chen then decided to give chase in his lorry after checking that the motorcyclist had received help.

The chase, however, was shortlived as Mr Chen lost the culprit at Tampines Central.

After circling around the area for a while, Mr Chen made a police report, Wanbao reported.

same here... no more installment. but need to renew insurance by next week. same goes for road tax and 1st inspection. my 2 mths of savings gone just like that!! lucky got GSS money. can take class 2A lessons already.

anyway, yesterday while riding, my horn finally saved my life!!! i was happily riding along the left lane of the road cos i know i'm going to filter left at the junction in front. then got this taxi happy2 cut into my lane!! never mind cos i'm still riding between 40-50km/hr. too slow to bang him. then like through BBDC-style, i signaled left early and i assumed that the taxi wanna go straight as he never inched towards the filter lane with no signal light blinking. and as i was about to reach the zebra crossing already, the fcuking taxi braked hard and made an effort to turn into the filter lane. since i never braked, that only means the taxi is already beside me. i thought he should be able to see me since i'm slightly in front already. but then, in a split second, i realised that he may not see me as he may be watching out for oncoming traffic instead and his big taxi is pushing me towards the side of the road.

and that's when i fcuking press my horn button as i tried my best to negotiate a turn while trying to avoid the taxi and the side road at the same time!! i thought plank course was easy, this feels like a curved plank course! fcuking scary! only after i pressed my horn then he panicked, almost knocking down the traffic light as he swerved back out and braked. if he had not braked, the taxi would have gone up the small island of pavement.

come to think of it, i should have just swerve left some more and just ride up along the pavement from the zebra crossing.

this something which I'm afraid most too, as left filtering lane mostly drivers n riders would focus their attention of the traffic from major road. So try not to be at the left of the vehicle best is let them move off first then follow by you. But unfortunately your case is where totally different... (signal early, slow down and move into filter lane) I seen it some times... vehicle stop n reverse in the middle of the road and move to filter lane...

one of the site mention, riding along decelerating lane... *aka expressway exit if there's vehicle on ur right while you're exiting on the left. Do pay attention if that bugger gonna turn in suddenly without signal...

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Yesterday at Ang Mo Kio near the mosque, I was turning right, when I saw the car in front was a P-Plater.

Don't know it's Spider Sense or 6 Sense, I know this car is bad news.... ...

After the turn, the driver signal left, and started changing lane. I saw from the corner of my eye got taxi behind the car in the next lane, very close, but even then will not bang even if the driver swerved out completely.

I was about to speed up to over take since the car was already 3/4 on the other side. When this thought came into my mind..... " Did the P-Plate driver check blind spot?"

Then suddenly the driver swerve back into my lane, and E-Brake !!!

I quickly shifted right and E- braked HARD! Tires screeching, everyone looking.

Taxi behind in the next lane also shocked also E-Brake like SIAO!

End up the P-Plate driver stuck smack in the middle of 2 lanes, number plate on the Dotted line. Then see the driver waving apology left and right. Hahahaha! LAdy driver!!!!

Lucky no accident! :D

Then at the next traffic light, she stop the car diagonally in the lane, I thought what?!?! Then see she let her friend out at the MRT station! :D

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

the taxi was in front of me, driving steadily so no clues. and i was confident that he just wanna go straight when he shocked the hell out of me by doing an F1 turn. which is late braking while and turning from the outside into the filter lane. and when that happens i don't know if the taxi will swerve more inwards or outwards as that will means either hit me from in front or behind. and that's why i'm afraid of braking. in the end, i made a quick check on traffic as i down 1 gear and just throttled away.

i also not sure. my current insurance is with AXA. last quoted from shop is $375. but i don't know if shop got jack up a bit or not. now still trying to ask around. still got 15 more days to decide. talking about insurance, if you stick to one company, will you get more discount for each year? or do i just have to ask for quotations and they will automatically calculate for me? and i only have my insurance number, AXA. anyone can drop me some numbers for the other insurance companies? preferably direct line to motor ones.

If you're reading this, you should learn how to control your temper and refrain from putting your gf in harms' way through your own reckless actions. Go reflect on it, and please put your ego aside while you're at it. Admitting your mistakes is the first step to learning. Think about why your gf tapped on you. And think hard. Preferably without that ego and defensiveness.

began my first ride yesterday (friday)

five things that are in learning process

1. reacting to sudden lane filter

2. squeezing in between vehicles(art of balance)

3. trying to memorize the road well so i don't filter unnecessarily

4. learning that hearing horns does not mean i am the one getting it

5. signaling (forget on , forget off)

i wonder whether i was fit to pass TP.

LOL.. #5 applies for me too when i 1st got on the roads 5mths ago..

when driving car no need cancel signal coz will auto-cut after the turn..

but bike dun have the auto-cut mechanism.. i tend to forget to cancel the signal..n not to mention the tick-tock tick-tock sound not loud enough to indicate the signal is not cancelled yet (rd too noisy+helmet).. :)

however, on the flipside, it ensures that i always habitually check to cancel the signal when i driving a car .. :cheeky:

this kind of taxi drivers must kena banned from driving sia.

just now had a brush with a cabby bully. at first it was partly my fault, as i realized that i had gotten into the wrong "exit" for me to turn right and into the building. then without checking, i had gotten into this cabby's way. he horned, can see that i was few meters away from him only. ok fine with that.

after which, i wanted to make a u-turn, saw from my side mirror that the cabby is still behind me, but at a bigger distance than before. signalled and waited for the traffic on the other side to ease. HE HORNED AND HORNED ! and keep on horning even after i have made the turn. knn ! dont know what his problem man. attracted so many unwanted stares. as he horned, i turned back and see what his problem, and since he kept on horning, showed him middle finger ! if i wasn't in my uniform i would have probably gave chase and confront him at the next traffic junction.

same here... no more installment. but need to renew insurance by next week. same goes for road tax and 1st inspection. my 2 mths of savings gone just like that!! lucky got GSS money. can take class 2A lessons already.

hhahaha nevermind la. charbos own the road. disrupt traffic like that, people see female also people dont mind. hahahaha

five things that are in learning process

1. reacting to sudden lane filter

2. squeezing in between vehicles(art of balance)

3. trying to memorize the road well so i don't filter unnecessarily

4. learning that hearing horns does not mean i am the one getting it

5. signaling (forget on , forget off)

i wonder whether i was fit to pass TP.

learning never stops after TP. hahaha..

u get lost nevermind, can always u-turn.

:cheeky:

2 days ago while riding:

LOL.. i stored the hotline number in my hp liao..:thumb::thumb:

kudos to the prompt reply from HDB!

wah ! like that i think at my place everyday surely got people kena saman sia ! u want to help saman all these people? hehe ...too many "rich" people in my area. even if the parking summon is waived, they will give a stupid suggestion. since the carpark near my block is always full, they gave us "alternatives" to park the car elsewhere. means within the carpark (the carpark at my area is just too big..and winding) , but many many blocks away.

Should ride around your area first until you're comfortable then slowly start expanding out.
