I'm going to BBDC tomorrow to register for class 2! :cheeky:

wah! then got chance we can go prac together.. lol.. anyway, today while riding a super 4.. yes that's right! a super 4. i was well taken aback! i've rode a spark before and i know its power. and i know my bike's is much more powerful than a spark. but a super 4 is soooo much powerful! open throttle a bit already can feel the lurch forward! then when riding, it's sooo smooth when changing gear also. and i try not to use the front brake too hard cos it's too strong. almost skidded when i tap on front brake on the turn. and turning is a bit difficult for me cos the bike feels too heavy to force it down.

after getting used to it, it feels very grippy even though i used a lot of energy to force the bike to lean lower. and the lean angle was just a bit only. and with the same amount of effort on my bike, surely buang already! now i know why a super 4 is very popular! i totally love the sound of the engine when i whack throttle and change the gears on the long straight road.

and so i failed my first prac at 4pm. came back again at 8pm to pass! suddenly i feel as if the circuit is VERY VERY slow compared to outside!

going to change lane, check blind spot, look infront.. ****... car jammed brake.. swef to the lane i was about to change and F**** think back.. I might be in hospital man.. F*** the stupid jammed brake people...

lucky you. and lucky me too. cos a taxi did that to me suddenly also. and i guessed i hit my front brakes too hard until my back wheels came off the ground a bit! scary feeling. and also just now, 1 'clever' car tried to overtake an L plated car when i was just right behind on the lane. i pressed my horn damn long, hoping that the car will brake halfway to let me pass. but the damn car just proceed on to cut into my lane. since i've chosen not to brake earlier on, i just have to swerve around him and cut across a part of the opposing lane. lucky for me, there's no incoming car. blardy car! horn so looong also don't bother to react! ccb!

my first post here.

There were too much to discuss while riding for daily bikers.

Here I share mine today.

Was approaching a cross junction along Pasir Ris Dr 3 at 08:10am today. Light was red and idiling at the white line.

Green start to flash and everybody roll off. I was first to move off as we bikers take off easilly than cars. Then!!! I notice on my right from Pasir Ris park, a black mercedes dash towards me as he is very clearly beating the turning right light which was not in his favor.

I quickly swerve to my left to avoid anything bad. The mercedes turn and gave a loud screeching sound from his tyre and we didn't make any contact. He drove on while I move aside to take a few cool breath.

I chase a bit and caught right up in front of his car and signal him to pull over. I felt like I was a TP. Heh heh

He didn't bother to pull over. So I do not want to risk more of myself and keep left and wave him to pull over.

This neatly dress with tie middle age man made hand sign to apologize many many time. I started to felt it would be of no use even if he pull over as all I can do is just show my frustration and could not pluck his tooth.

Then I move on and proceed to my journey.

Bad start of the day but this ain't make me upset. I thank heaven I could reach office in one good piece and looking for more return to home/office in one good piece as they are awaiting.

Cheers!

safety distance :thumb:

i also kenna b4. sometimes check blind spot too long :p

thing is u gotta know how long u take to check blindspot. if u check long long type, increase safety distance, or release throttle while checking. :thumb:

Today while driving, I was stuck behind the long queue of traffic at town area. Saw one uncle riding RXZ lane splitting and 2 vehicles in front of me was a van. When the RXZ was approaching, the van changed lane without checking and without signal.

Luckily the uncle was able to stop in time, it was a real near miss! I bet if he was going 5km/h faster there would definitely be a collision. This is the first time I witness such incident and thank god nothing happened!

gosh! wat speed were they doing?

Umm... Super 4 is a very nice bike to ride! Furthermore, it's very reliable! :thumb:

And yes, it feels very grippy at corners and that's the reason why you can also take the Super 4 to track for fun sometimes! Of course, pls have Sports Touring tyres on your Super 4 before you go on track. Don't try to be funny and go with road tyres. Your tyres will heat up in no time... :giddy: And the tyres will slip and it can be very scary...

Anyway, I just came back from BBDC and applied for my Class 2 already! :cheeky:

And I've booked for my 1st prac lesson at 4pm! I just don't really know what to expect though... And it looks like it's gonna rain... :(

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

Sports Touring can warm up in time. Its made for the occasional track use, which is good for amatuers not riding anywhere near the limit. Road tyres, on the other hand, may start to slip too soon when overheated even on your first track session if you start getting throttle happy. They aren't made for the track, but could do the job if you're "touring" the circuit, like me.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

normally, i would have ease off the throttle and let him cut. but he stopped behind the L plate already then start to change lane. then change lane so slow somemore. i ease off throttle also not enough time to let him go first. it's the same like how cars like to come out from filter lane fast but when they enter the lane already, they ease off the throttle and drive slowly. these drivers have the 'i'm here first so you wait behind me' mentality. for me, if i cut someone's lane, i make sure i accelerate fast enough not to force them to hit the brakes just to accomodate me into the lane.

and it's not that i want to play corner la.. want to lap those 2b bikers faster. so that i can have more time to practise my plank and slalom. cos my slalom very bad initially! bike feels too heavy to turn. but after a lot of practice, i just force it to turn and surprisingly, they gripped the road well. if i do that with the same force on my bike, sure scrape tarmac already. i'm sooo not used to the strong brakes and power and not forgetting the weight!

about the brakes, the instructor told me that what you've just said is possible. not cos of lousy bike. but cos of overheating of the hydraulics. so it's not responsive enough when overheated. i also not too sure how that can happen but yeah. that's what the instructor told us.

i ride those bbdc ones la. how to take super 4 to track? lol.. and i could've taken the prac with you just now not for my bike giving me problem!

spent 3 hours at bike shop. first, engine oil leaking cos the engine O-ring seal is broken. so must open the topmost part of the engine to reseal it. damage was $45 so not so bad la. then when want to put the 4 screws on, 1 screw had the bottom part broken already, stuck at the bottom of the top half of the engine!! so end up must remove the whole of the top part of the engine. the bikeshop owner told me must down the bike at shop for 1 day! i told him no! they promised me 1 hour. so, i'll wait until they finish! so, as i watched them open up the engine. turned out gasket was also broken up. so change new gasket and top gasket.

then after all things had been done within 2 hours or so, then put back the petrol tank and connect all the parts when suddenly my choke give me problem! auto choke on when turning the handle bar. tried to resolve but to no avail! then, they end up recommend me to use the direct choke to the engine. another $18.50! since i've spent so much already, i asked the mechanic to service my bike as well. ended up changing air filter, spark plugs(almost 10000km already actually.. so about time), engine oil, top up battery water(1 year never top up before!!)

total damage was $137!! i thought no need pay installment already can relek. now that's my 'installment' for this month. sigh... and i was saving money to change both my tyres in 1 or 2 months time.

wait till u ride a DRZ:angel:

knn. today almost became road kill by merc cab.

CB cab chiong into chevron markings on my right (the stupid markings cant fit a car and is approaching a turn in front) and overtook me with just cm to spare. Sipeh fugging angry siah. Went up, get the license plate number and wrote a long long email to TP and comfort.

KNN~! wanna earn money also no need to drive in such a manner and almost killing ppl mah. i wobbled like fug and had to swerve very harshly to avoid a collision, nearly banging into another car.

i hope this fugger loses his job soon. sooner or later, he would end up as a 2nd regan lee should he continue driving in such a manner, killing off some sole breadwinner of some family, then whine on news and newspaper how jialat he is after the accident blah blah blah.... feeling regret blah blah blah.... got wife and kids waiting for him to feed blah blah blah.... beg judge to be lenient, go see MP to beg and most probably end up with a 1 day jail and 2k fine.

wah! then got chance we can go prac together.. lol.. anyway, today while riding a super 4.. yes that's right! a super 4. i was well taken aback! i've rode a spark before and i know its power. and i know my bike's is much more powerful than a spark. but a super 4 is soooo much powerful! open throttle a bit already can feel the lurch forward! then when riding, it's sooo smooth when changing gear also. and i try not to use the front brake too hard cos it's too strong. almost skidded when i tap on front brake on the turn. and turning is a bit difficult for me cos the bike feels too heavy to force it down.

after getting used to it, it feels very grippy even though i used a lot of energy to force the bike to lean lower. and the lean angle was just a bit only. and with the same amount of effort on my bike, surely buang already! now i know why a super 4 is very popular! i totally love the sound of the engine when i whack throttle and change the gears on the long straight road.

and so i failed my first prac at 4pm. came back again at 8pm to pass! suddenly i feel as if the circuit is VERY VERY slow compared to outside!

If you find it difficult to "pull down" a Super 4 for a corner, then try using countersteering instead of shifting your body weight instead.

When turning right, push on your right handlebar. Left, vice versa. At speeds below abt 10kph, your steering works like a car. i.e. Left turn, turn handle left.

At higher speeds, it works in reverse. Turn your bar left (same effect as push your right handlebar)... well, not turn, but nudge... and your bike goes right itself.

Why and how this works??... too long to explain. Let's just say simply that by nudging your handle, you're in effect applying forces in the direction of your push and are causing the bike to fall over to that side, but at the same time the gyroscopic effect of your wheels are still acting to keep the bike upright.

I was under the impression that both Sports Touring tyres and Sports tyres were Road tyres... :D

Track tyres are on the other hand.... track tyres!

Your Michelin Pilot Road, Bridgestone BT-020/021, Metzeler Z6s... those are sport touring tyres. They have good grip, but are all still compromised. They were made to last, and for reasonable grip in the rain. Not for all out grip on the track.

The Michelin Pilot Power 2CTs, Bridgestone BT-015/016s, Metzeler M1/M3 are still considered road tyres, even though they are marketed as sport tyres. They have much better grip than the S-T tyres, sacrificing life and some treads (along with wet performance). But ultimately they're still road tyres and will not last more than 5 laps on PG before they slip.

I've unintentionally slid out of T5 at PG on a "Sport" tyre before, and that's no fun. Didn't crash, didn't highside it... but to feel your rear tyre losing it and causing your bike to slide/grip repeatedly (whipping it about) can give you quite a scare.

After that, I binned the "Sport" tyre for a pair of Michelin Power Race med/soft. That ended the balls-in-the-throat affair.

For my Fizzer, I threw out my Pilot Road on day 1 and replaced it with a Pilot Power 2CT. Lasted abt 10 month, and now it's replaced by a BT-016. I don't compromise on grip. Would rather sacrifice mileage and change it more often.

They may be marketed as "Sport" tyres, but I still consider them street/road tyres. Hence I always watch my right wrist when throttling out of a corner. Don't overcook it or I'll probably dismount my bike as a projectile.

knn. today almost became road kill by merc cab.

CB cab chiong into chevron markings on my right (the stupid markings cant fit a car and is approaching a turn in front) and overtook me with just cm to spare. Sipeh fugging angry siah. Went up, get the license plate number and wrote a long long email to TP and comfort.

KNN~! wanna earn money also no need to drive in such a manner and almost killing ppl mah. i wobbled like fug and had to swerve very harshly to avoid a collision, nearly banging into another car.

i hope this fugger loses his job soon. sooner or later, he would end up as a 2nd regan lee should he continue driving in such a manner, killing off some sole breadwinner of some family, then whine on news and newspaper how jialat he is after the accident blah blah blah.... feeling regret blah blah blah.... got wife and kids waiting for him to feed blah blah blah.... beg judge to be lenient, go see MP to beg and most probably end up with a 1 day jail and 2k fine.

i hate such @ssholes.

got 1day jail 2k fine we should be grateful liaoz, maybe by then the IN thing is jail and fine, for the victim. "Why u kenna knocked down? OF COURSE it's ur fault! U pay!?" :sian:

Whoo! Nice, gonna try, safely. i still dun dare pull down to bua kata (scrape footpeg), still shadowed by my skid.

so effectively its shifting weight to the side to turn, and countersteer at the same time yeah?

***** ***** ***** ***** *****

***** ***** ***** ***** *****

anyway, i juz received word from a fren, 06/07/09, monday, 730am, he was going 40-50kph along SLE-BKE intersection, single lane.

Front biker (uncle) ZHAM brake for no reason, to the extent he ZHAM brake still wanna crash onto the uncle, and he instinctively swerved to avoid, oni forget to release brake. hence skid.

The freaky thing is that he broke a few bones, cut his chin and had abrasions on his legs and arms - from a 40-50kph skid, which i guess actually much lesser since he ald braked, probably 20-30kph.

Even the TP dun believe coz the injuries so hiong.

D@mn! Please ride safe, safety distance. Forget the rush, remember ur loved ones.
