Hi guys, i'm also an avid fan of motorcycle models. I have done up some tamiya 1:12 motoGP and road models myself, but have never gotten around to try and make use of air brush yet. Here are some of my models:

Sorry for the spam...:cheeky: Cos each post only allow 6 attachments..

Anyway, does anyone know where i can get a set of cheap air brush set with air compressor? The tamiya brand one is way too expensive -_-

Holy shyt, very nicely done up. I always wish that I could paint it myself haha. Too bad, can only get the done up models. Konica Minolta Honda RC211V '06 is my favourite!

Thank u, its not hard, u need to have a feel of how paint would behave on plastics, and together with proper tools, steady hands and lots of patience, u'll find it a joy to learn and make nice models! But in order to get to more detailed painting, im thinking of using airbrush, something which i havent tried before. But duno where can buy a set of cheap one with compressor.

I have seen ur collection of diecast models, they look very impressive too, especially those that u DIY. Where do u usually buy ur models from? I have seen a Maisto Ducati Desmosedici GP11, Nicky Hayden 69 model, not sure if 1:10 or 1:6, going for $60 in a local toy store. I am interested to get that one, together with the Rossi 46 model, any ideas where selling cheap?

Haha thanks. That's rookie diy bro, yours is owning. Yea I've tried painting on a Tamiya blackbird, half way work, I surrender lol

I went through the entire Singapore hunting for 1/12 sportbikes, usually they are at Toy 'r' us, Tai sing ,Kiddy palace, BHG, SOGO, Far east plaza, mustafa or even better buy from oversea haha thats what im doing now.

I think you saw the desmo GP11 is 1:10 scaled, BHG bugis still in stock if not Toy 'r' us along orchard road. Desmo GP11 1/12 scaled I brought from a biker here. Rossi models are usually from minichamp, nikko has old stocks for 46! Hope it helps bro! Singapore prices are quite standard, but when you intend to get from oversea which has more varieties, you gonna be careful man

Now im headache whether to get another detolf haha. Have you tried garage sales from forums for your spray?

You can go back a page and take a look at my model parts.. Most of them are airbrushed.. When you start airbrushing, you will never turn back to hand painting again.. Unless the part is really small..

When hand painting, I like to use enamel paints as they dry slower and does not have the brush marks..

You can find yourself a cheap air compressor at sunshine plaza.. Go to the shop that sells a lot of gundams.. Ask the auntie for recommendation..

By using air brush, you can save a lot of paints as the paint used for airbrushing needs to be thin.. Compressor is cheap, but airbrushes are not.. I had a few airbrush of different sizes and grades.. But my compressor is cheap one.. Unless you continuously airbrush the whole day, you dun need a good compressor..

I let the compressor rest during airbrush cleaning and changing of colors..

Buy those with a humidity filter, you dun want your paint to mix with water that condensed from the compressor..

As I said, once you started airbrushing, you will prefer to do it on all parts.. Then comes the mixing of different types of paint, acrylic and enamel..

If that part is a big part, I will use acrylic paint..

If its a small part like brake caliper, I will use enamel for airbrush, the acrylic to brush out the Brembo words.. As both thinners are different, they dun remove the first paint..

Play around and improve on your own skills.. Ive been missing in action for a good 7 yrs.. I really need to get back on it soon!!

I heard from watch shop, they put a glass of water inside the display cabinet is to attract the dust. Dont know does it really work or not. I saw jewellery shop also do that.

Sogo?? Singapore still got Sogo? I thought they closed down and left Singapore for many years already.... Yeah those places u mentioned I check them out quite frequently except Tai Sing. What about the hobby shop near Beach Rd and Haji lane? Do they carry diecast models also?

Recently i'm also looking around (both locally & online) for the Kawasaki GPZ900R diecast model, the one Tom Cruise rode in the 1986 film Top Gun.

Yep i have seen ur stuff, and I especially love the titanium-look for the exhaust system, something which I cannot achieve effectively with spray cans (spray radius is too big).

Since you have recommended the shop at Sunshine Plaza for air compressor, what about airbrushes? Recommended I can buy from there also? And by the way, I would be grateful if you could prescribe me some online readings about airbrushes and their usage, I would like to learn more. :cheeky:

Metro haha, Sogo was at Taiwan. Hobby shop I use to call them, but unfortunately they don't carry, only those grad up parts

For the Kawasaki GPZ900R, I saw alot at eBay and here's one of them http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-12-AOSHIMA-Kawasaki-GPZ900R-Ninja-TOP-GUN-/251047105215?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a7392d2bf

Recently just brought some 1/12 diecast from Spain, should be on the way by this week. They sell quite cheap, except for the shipment. Go take a look

Wow got DIY one, even better! Thanks for the link!

And i think most likely u have already combed the whole Sg for diecast models already la... Have to rely on buying online now to get new & different stuff... Actually its good also cos most things being sold online tend to be cheaper than if u buy it locally from shops, but often the shipping fee can be abit ridiculous.

Haha, ya now I'm buying this brand "altaya" online (Spain) looks cool. Bro, combine the shipment, the price will narrow down to 20+ per piece, which is consider cheap for me since can't really get from SG. Haha, the waiting time is hell. Europe about 6days, US about 9days, Asia about 14days.

I want diy too haha but I dunnoe how lol. Bro where do you usually post your diecast? I wanna take a look! :thumb:

6/9 days for shipping smaller items is quite fast eh, 14 days is quite normal actually. Sometimes we order things from deal extreme, longest i waited 3.5 months to get something (an iphone casing)... :sian:
