Dear knights,

When changing tyres, what does balancing means? Is it really important?

I heard Planet Motor does not provide balancing. Is it true?

Thanks

When the wheels of your bike are casted, they are made perfectly (ie equal amounts of weight all round the wheel) such that the rotation is balanced. However, tyres cannot be made to such a balanced degree because of the nature of rubber; comes from different trees. As such, upon installation of tyres, your wheels become inbalanced in terms of weight. The weight difference across the circumference of the tyre may be minute, but it does affect the rotation (the weighted part will tend to hit the 6 o'clock position and vice versa) and thus, weights are employed to counter this.

I dunno about planet.

Hi..bro...

got some question to ask..

everytime when(morning, raining) the engine gets cold..then hard to start up.

we then need to pull the "choke" then the engine can start

wat does the choke do huh?

does often pull it will damage the bike???

thanks

In general, a choke is basically a valve used to control flow rates. This is what I got from the internet.

A choke valve is sometimes installed in the carburetor of internal combustion engines. Its purpose is to restrict the flow of air, thereby enriching the fuel-air mixture while starting the engine. Depending on engine design and application, the valve can be activated manually by the operator of the engine (via a lever or pull handle) or automatically by a temperature-sensitive mechanism called an autochoke.

Choke valves are important for carbureted gasoline engines because small droplets of gasoline do not evaporate well within a cold engine. By restricting the flow of air into the throat of the carburetor, the choke valve raises the level of vacuum inside the throat, which causes a proportionally greater amount of fuel to be sucked out of the main jet and into the combustion chamber during cold-running operation. Once the engine is warm (from combustion), opening the choke valve restores the carburetor to normal operation, supplying fuel and air in the correct stoichiometric ratio for clean, efficient combustion.

Chokes were nearly universal in automobiles until fuel injection replaced carburetion in the late 1980s. Choke valves are still extremely common in other internal-combustion applications, including most small portable engines, motorcycles, small prop-powered airplanes, and carbureted marine engines.

From what i understand, closing the choke i.e. pulling the choke will cause a rich mixture of petrol and air to enter your engine. This would not cause damage to the engine unless of course you ride the bike with the choke closed. The rich mixture will cause fouling of the plugs and the engine to smoke and of course waste fuel.

i always tot prolonged useage of choke will increase piston wear.

again, i might be wrong eh? :bounce: :bounce:

The choke simply makes your air-fuel mixture richer, increasing your rpm just like when you open throttle. If you forget to disengage the choke, there isn't enough air in the air-fuel mixture and some fuel is unable to combust. This uncombusted fuel wets your spark plug and fouls it, or at least causes inefficient sparking. Which is why your bike gets jerky.

There's no link to piston wear.

so leaving choke on for too long during warm up won't rinse oil off cylinder walls

which in turn over time lead to piston wear?

Why would it rinse off oil from the cylinder walls? If you think about it logically, the choke simply cuts off air at the carbs, making the air-fuel ratio leaner. So how would that dry off the cylinder walls?

eh.i dont know what to overhaul also.eh.metalfyre.can you tell what the parts are.and the functions? :giddy:

:giddy:

lol how to explain each and every single part? it's gonna take a few pages to fully explain how each and every part of the engine works dude...

you go wikipedia and search la lol

you mean the x ring serve you for two yrs plus?

so how the adjustment/tightening of the chain? how often you tightening once?

heard that xring can store oil? as in there like a so called reservior to do the storing so that whenever you spray chain lub some of the oil will be reserved ..

haha.all right.i will slowly go search.but anyway my phantom tend to vibrate alot and super noisy when travelling at 90 to 100km/h.any possibility why this happen?

I believe that is the typical behaviour of a single cylinder engine running at high rpm
