they are not unfriendly. it's so called for our own safety. most of the time, i dismount anyways, so the regulations do not bother me.

New question:

How to check out the EO level using the dipstick? The dipstick is black...can't see anything! Or does that mean that my EO has run dry?

hey guys... will phantom get rusty easily? If yes, how you guys maintain it?

Besides that, according to the previous posts in this forum... you guys says that there is no fuel guage on phantom... so how will the bike react when the bike run out of fuel...? will it slow down gradually... or stop immediately or what.. or how do you guys tell/feel from the bike when the bike's fuel runs out... what if travelling on highway halfway through... seems scary le...

hope someone can help out. Thanks in advance ya...

check ur engine oil when the engine is warm.

stop the engine, and put the bike upright on straight level ground.

wait a while then remove the oil filler cap/dipstick, wipe it clean then insert it straight back into the engine without screwing it back in. the oil level shd be between the criss-cross pattern at the tip of the dipstick.

:)

Any bike will rust if u allow it to rust. To prevent rusting, always park under shelter or cover your bike. Wipe dry after riding in the rain & polish the chrome bits often to maintain the shine and de-rust regularly.

When fuel is running low, the bike will start to "cough". Then u can reach down with your left hand to switch the fuel kok to reserve, all without stopping (practice switching the fuel kok on-the-go if u are a new rider)

rust is inevitable... cos frankly the phantom is a cheap made-in-thailand bike, so the quality of the parts isn't that great

just wash wax and polish regularly :D avoid autosol and all other abrasives at all cost, it will remove the chrome plating.

there's no fuel gauge, most of us usually gauge by mileage. the average phantom will go about 290 km plus or minus before it hits the reserve tank, then another maybe 70 or 80 km before it runs dry.

you'll be able to tell easily if the bike runs out of fuel... cos when fuel in the main tank runs out, your bike will start to hesitate, sputter and lose power... all you have to do is turn the fuel knob to the reserve position and then start looking for a petrol station.

if you forget to switch your fuel knob from reserve to on again after you top up, your bike will run til it's out of fuel and then you'll be stuck. so ALWAYS REMEMBER! :)

but if you're counting mileage you shdn't have a problem :)

There is no minimum or maximum.

all depend on how much of love u tend to shower to your bike :D

well, get yourself a phantom and u can experience that yourself :)

its a really trusty 2b bike which i've nv regretted taking .

Its not that hard to maintain the cosmetic parts of TA compare to higher CC cruisers which tend to have more CHROME parts and spoke rims :help:

aiya.. i wish to know first cause if it is very very time consuming... then i will try to skip it out... if buy liao then no time to shower love to him, then sell away or let it rust... then worse leh... so of course have to put it into consideration ar.. anyway, can anyone else let me know how often you guys polish/wash your bike to maintain it in good shining condition.

when i was riding phantom, i'll try to wash it once at least 1-2weeks..

of cos u wan to always maintain shinny , u have to put in more effort and spend more time/freqency on washing and polishing.

Sorry to interupt, but has any of u guys n gers installed NGK Spark Cable on ur TAs yet? I'm tinking of e idea of installing it for my TA200. Wat's ur views? (",)

Regarding grounding cables, has those who installed felt great differences on their Phantoms?

For TA200, which is the recommend amp of fuse? Is 20 or 25 okie for the bike?

I cover my bike religiously and park under shelter almost all of the time.

During dry weather, I can polish & de-rust every 3 weeks to 1 month (with some dry wipes in between), and still keep my bike in high shine condition.

For wet weather days then different liao, once every 2 weeks or more often, depending on how much I get caught in the rain.

Basically, covering your bike will do wonders to rust prevention. :thumb:

It'll only take u about 30secs to a minute to cover your bike. If lazy, then bo pian liao
