I'm riding a TA150 here n today while riding my meter stopped all of a sudden. The needle won't move n its at the 0 mark no matter how fast I go & the mileage is also stuck. So can I noe how much does it cost to change a meter (2nd hand one will be fine) or repair it if it is possible. Thanks

Wah... is it a common problem? I oso tio before... The speedometer cable got too loose and basically just dropped out. But easily solveable... just take out speedo and reconnect. Then tighten.

Rather dangerous actually... what if it dropped out and got entangled with something else while riding?

Why did I become a rider?

This is just my humble and modest attempt to live within my means.

Not to forget the wind, the freedom, the joy, the sun, the ride.

my speedo cable was once upon a time making sparks on the ground... until some uncle tell me my cable gone case lol... :cheeky:

yea do get it fixed soon... or else it might drop all the way to the ground like mine and there is a chance that it will get totaled...

Er... just like 30 secs walk from LAB. Might not be the cheapest, but I got mine from there after asking ah boy where can get car jack nearby.

Dunno Mustafa have or not...

Chuan. thanks alot even going to the expense of posting picture. What do u ask? was thinking of going there and say "ah pek u have bike jack for my bike ma?" :faint:

Hi... I have a qn to ask. When doing U-turn, I tend to turn VERY widely on my phantom, maybe eating into 3 lanes or so. Is it because I noob or what?

Just about 10 days into owning my phantom =)

Had this problem at first. Tip is to slow down and besides leaning, turn your handlebar.. literally.:thumb:

will it increase any smoothness or just longer mileage?

If every bit counts, i believe it does help based on my research but there has been a long debate. but im very thrifty hence, i diy my own normal plug changes bought from lab. Also, i save that money for higher quality and frequent oil changes, diy tuning, new tires, chain lubing and fresh petrol. This bike is made for cruising so do not expect too much from it. Best is when i change my handlebar from thailand. Feel like a human kite at 130kph.

Been though this before. I hand tighten it really hard back to its thread which was quite a challenge. Think caused by the vibrations and the tug from my wide handlebars. It did cross my mind to enforce it with glue but i dropped the idea after much consideration.

In addition to the feedback from the rest, a common mistake is to look downwards towards the road the whole time during the turn. Scan the road just before you initiate the turn for any obstacle. Thereafter, look in the direction where you want to go to. Your body should know to do the rest.

No sweat. Just ask for a car jack. If they ask to jack what (to determine size), just tell them it's for bike.

The common "kite shape with a long screw across the middle" type is called scissors jack. The other type is the hydraulic jack. If the scissors jack is out of stock, don't bother to get the hydraulic jack. IMHO, hydraulic jacks are rather inconvenient to use with bikes.

Turn your handlebar in far enough, banking a little and control your clutch. Do some practice turns on quiet roads when you can. :thumb:

Thks for the various tips.. ha.. Come to think of it, I don't think I turn my handlebar a lot, and I confirm look down.. ha. Will change to see it helps.

1 more thing.. Do you guys do U-turn at 1st gear or 2nd gear? Or is it depends? seems like both gears I am also not very smooth at it...

Why did I become a rider?

Most times i do it in 2nd gear unless the car infront super slow... or sometimes 2nd gear but half clutch... hmm... i think its personal preference..

Hi

Got a question for all your bros out there,

Recently bought a TA200 from motordiam, ride for a few weeks then feel that the engine is feeling weird.

Bike vibrate like crazy when i go >90km/h

Brought the bike back to the shop since engine still under warranty...

When i was with the mechanic, he inspect here inspect there, tell me the spark plug a bit spoilt (which was weird cause the uncle told me he changed a new one for me when i bought the bike)

Then later told me the engine oil needs to be changed (which is also weird cause the uncle told me he changed it for me when i bought the bike)

Then he start bike and engine dies when put idle (then i saw him change the choke, took from another bike an change onto my bike)

Then the uncle ask me to leave my bike there for 2days w/o telling me the actual reason(diagnosis)

Now i feel kinda unsafe leaving my bike there cause seems like he will change parts in and out like that... cause he makes me feel that he is not very honest...

Even though i just want my bike to be up and running, i dun want it to be up and running for one month then got alot of problems again....

How?? Any soultions??

what is weird??the vibrating???anyway this is the 1st step to ur biking career, so consider getting chopped at motorshop as a rite of passage.

anyway from wat u posted there's no need to do those changes which was recommended, why???phantom is a extremely bullet proof bike, hence changing does not help any at all if u juz changed them.

instead its money earned for the shop, wat my suggestion to u is this, when u collect back the bike, ask them wat was change, if they can produce the stuff, ask them wats broken, and if possible ask them to show u the brand new replaced item that was on the bike, dare them to dismantle and do a side by side comparison, if possible best is ask some1 who has been riding long enuff ( with advanced engine knowledge) to accompany u down when u collecting back the bike...if all else fails, take back ur key and give them 5 bucks to buy coffee and tell them F*** spider...

u can PM me if u need help...

Huat ah!

Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see farther.

by the way do this when the cost of repair hits above 100....below 100 take it as a lesson learnt and pay them, well i always believe in this, knowing a person, would sometimes entail the cost of cost....

well u've been told to go to a certain shop call Pl*net motors if ur bikes need servicing, i guess the reputation and reliability can be vouched by some forummers here...

Cheers!

Yoz! Thanks for the advise.

Was talking to the shop guy just now..

He says my engine need overhaul!!! But the good news is that...

He say no charges for the servicing cause my bike was still under warranty..

Another thing was my IU was spoilt so i told him... he say when he 1st sell the bike to me he checked and it was working.. i told him i did not check that time...

Luckily he says he is gonna change a 2nd hand one for me for free also... woo~ think he is in a good mood 2day...

Later going to collect my bike... hope everything is alright when i receive it..

Lesson learnt... rem to bring a cashcard when u buy bike from motordiam.. haha

this is the risk of buying a second hand bike...especially from a bike shop....they temporary fix to make it run...after the sale its your problem....

but the bright side is the next time u buy another u will be much smarter than your first..

good luck.this is a passing out certification for your next purchase..

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time:dot:

Just can back from LAB and diy my plug and air filter change. Starting the bike up seems harder with the denso.

I observed that there is oil in the air filter compartment. Is this normal?

Also, the one lab provided me was rather ill fitting as compared to the one which i got from planet motors.

Lab filter was made of those bright orange synthetic chamois while planets air filter was made out of card board paper. Wonder which would be better.

What does this plug tell? too lean or too rich or is it okay? I also realised that there is a ring around the spark plug thread. Do we have to take that out prior to reinstalling?

Nooooooo~ That's the crush washer, and as it's name suggest, it's function is to get "crushed" when you tighten in the plug.

regarding the plug...

it looks weird in the sense that the bent electrode(earth side) is clean and the other parts are sooty..did you clean the plug tip??

.i am not comfortable with the soot...if it gets worse and wet then the combustion needs to be improved...

the conventional wisdom to check plug colour is as follows..

dry and whitish/yellowish......lean

brown...okay

black and wet ...rich

so i can only conclude that the combustion is going towards the rich side.

to those who wish to change different plug types..u have to understand

plug specification..what i mean is that what is good for race bikes is not neccesary good for phantom too..IMHO.:cheeky:
