You forgot the most important one.....a gd lid on ur head

yeah man...hahaha.. i think using an APPROVED helmet is essential...and investing in a good on is crucial.. shouldn't buy cheap one...i mean it protects your HEAD...how unimportant is that.

and although sg is damn hot and wearing a full face is a bit uncomfortable i still prefer it to half face.

Its not about hard you can hit, its about how many times you can take a hit and remain standing

After injury, and having enough money to buy a RVF, and you're asking whether you should buy safety gear? :giddy:

The answer is (if not obvious enough) YES. Unless you love the feeling of rubbing your skin on the tarmac and then have nurses washing them with stinging antiseptic fluids. Next, you will not be able to even bathe probably for months, let alone ride or do anything.

kings safety boots - $40 saf e-mart credits. worn everyday for all purposes, lasts me 2 yrs each time (sole splits).

komine armour jacket - $150 at motoworld. been using regularly for 2 yrs and still in excellent shape. hot during the day, but excellent at night.

spyke full leather gloves - $70 from garage sales. fingers are less agile and feels restictive at first but i got used to it upon regular use.

arai full face - $250 from my friend.

yes, it is a hassle to put on all these. to carry around if you dont have a box and sweat under the hot weather. but then again, i would say its just a matter of getting used to it. but of coz, there are times where i also dont wear them..hah

you could spend less like getting a cheaper (but good) lid such as hjc. but overall, riding gears are probably the best investment a rider can make, you only need a good set to last u a long long time.

it's definitely worth the safety gears (FF, armoured jacket, safety shoes/boots, gloves) even if u find it a hassle for everyday riding. n yes, eventually u'll get used to tat, juz like me.

juz to share my experience. got into an accident wif a car last june at the round about. broke my collarbone and it's never gonna join back like it used to. saw on the x-ray film it was broken into 2 pieces, scared the sh*t out of me. am still riding now, armoured jacket is a must for me (dun wanna risk breaking another bone) for everyday commuting to fro work.

so fellow riders, dun risk breaking a bone or losing a limb before u really regret like me. never compromise safety! ride safe n enjoy the wind!

I wear gloves and jacket(jeans material) during my daily ride.

It only take you 1-2 minutes to wear it and take off, but it sure help minimise you from permernant scar on yr body.:cheeky:

Normal riding in Sg, On top of the PSB approved helmet, I will wear gloves, covered shoes and pants.

Malaysia touring, full gears.

Riding jacket

Riding Pants

Riding boots

PSB approved Full face

Gloves

Looks machiam like those NFL players, but when I had my accident, god knows how many times I thank my lucky stars that i was in proper gears.

Damage to bike was 2K++

Damage to self - bruised shoulder.

Many riders who have hit the Tarmac before will definately vouch for safety gears. Do consider...

Anyway, this thread quite old liao. I wonder has the TS bought his safety gears?

Rebuilding my dreams. But first, the gears

1) WP RS Taichi riding jacket

2) WP riding pants

3) Titanium riding gloves

4) Garmine Nuvi 550 GPS (US$259)

5) WP Komine riding boots

6) Arai Helmet

7) The BIKE of course! :cheeky:

I wear ny r-jays and full face and gloves - a lot of people stare as if asking "err- when are you going to drop due to heat stroke" so far - my mesh is quite cooling.

My next project is to bring in to Singapore Kevlar Lined Denim Jeans at a reasonable price - i.e. lower than what is being sold locally as well as those on the net.

Wish me luck! Better than that - PM me if you are keen and also your waist size. Once i can get the shipment in i'll let you know. Price - about what you pay for a pair of Levi's give or take a couple.

You can have many suits many bikes and many gloves but you only have one body. Suit tear can buy, bike spoil can change, glove tear can replace. But you aint gonna get a spare set of body for change. The only way you can go is metal brace for the rest of life. So i definately opt for the minimum that i can get in my budget. If i were to stretch more to get one better one i will. But better doesnt mean branded... be mindful. :D

Oh you bringing in drag jeans? Motor World did sell some designs frankly. If you can beat their price and design i think its a seller man. Ups for you.

Gloves: ALWAYS... It's easy to carry around (just stuck them in your helmet or under your sit when you park the bike.

Jacket: It's definitely a good thing. Since I went down, I wear mine almost every time I ride.

And some brands (R-Jays for example) are having mesh jacket letting the air go through... Very comfy when you ride... Still hot under dazzling sun at the traffic light tho...

Hi. I'm selling my mesh armored motorcycle jacket. still new with tags. bought it online, and it's too small for me :( selling it for only $80 negotiable.

http://www.adpost.com/sg/vehicles/22953/

Has removable shoulder, elbow and back paddings.

Mesh, so it's airy and cool (but not waterproof)

EDIT: check out the link for more details and photos. the brand is Himalaya.

Ideally, the jacket and gloves should always been worn together with shoes (preferably leather with good ankle support).

At the minimum, gloves and shoes.

But really, a mesh jacket is the next best thing cos it offers some form of shoulder and elbow protection. Not too hot to use... but sometimes better to look ridiculous than fully bandaged up in the end?

Alpinestars jackets are ex. But if budget is an issue, can try the RS Taichi or Komine which are quite affordable (~$100-200). The final price quote is usually lower than the retail price listed... so do try to ask for a better price.

Ride safe...

Just had a close call with Death last week when a bus driver cut out from busstop, across all three lanes without looking at the traffic behind.

This incident got me thinking about my wife who indicated interest in riding pillion on the big bike.

Anyone of you here insist on your pillion being adequately protected as well? FF helmet, gloves and jacket with CE protection?
