Hi, im doing research on behalf of my gf...

She is interested to get a 2nd Cub..

Currently shortlisted 2, Wave S or R , X1

I dun really knoe much about cubs thus i tink it will be better for mi to ask Lao Jiao cub-bers about it

 

1) Her budget is ard 2k, thus how old (wat plate) should be the bike range that she would most likely be getin?

2) Maintenace no difference rite?

3) I knoe sports rims is a must change... Anythin else to make the bike more safe?

4) Is ther anyway to change the rear drum brake to disc?

5) Insurance wise is the same for Wave and X1 rite? Roughly how much for 23yrs old...

6) Any main difference between X1 and Wave?

7) Differences between Wave R and S?

Things I found out after surfing through this forum and asking around.

 

1)I got my FBA plate cub for 3k OTR, so try to back count on what plate you can get with 2K

 

2)Some riders change their engine oil every 2 weeks, some every 1-2 mths, it depends on your mileage and how much you are willing to take care of your bike.

 

3)Currently using spoked rims because sports rim haven't come out for my version of wave , but don't think there is much of a difference, some swear by spoked rims, others by sports rims, it depends on individual. I have no problems with spoked rims, the important thing is the tires.

 

4)Sure there is, all you need is $$, can do it in JB.

 

5)2nd party insurance cost me 600 last mth when I did it, dunno why so high maybe the cost of insurance for that mth is high, it changes constantly, I am 25, with 6 years experience, guess you need to do your own calculations.

 

6)X1 got clutch, rear suspensions easier to be stolen if you changed it to a better one, I had a friend who had his suspensions stolen. Wave suspensions need to remove fairing to remove the suspensions.

 

7)Difference between wave R and Wave S are the headlights and speedo displays, as well as the front speedo cable is different, I think I read that somewhere before.

 

Guess that's about it. I am not very knowledgeble bout wave, I also just bought one for transport purposes, but I hope this can clear some of your doubts.

i like spark, i was quoted 4k for everything but i just cant get rid of my current bike!!!!! bike shop take in tooooo freaking lor for a fu plate bike:weep:

i found a bike shop at amk industrial park 2 selling 4k include insurance of 3rd party OTR. dunno got the IU unit or not

Care to share which shop you went to? And 4k include IU and all the stuff? Cause nowadays COE so EX, wanted to change to sparks also got to hestitate. Thus looking for the shop that offer the best price.

it the ban hong brothers at amk indus park 2, everything with the price but no IU its a good buy i have shop around in the north and this is the cheapest all the best to u find ur bike

Get Mitsui insurance. Im paying abt 300plus for 3rd party under 21yrs.

cos it have bigger cc.

have nicer headlights

biggerin size ( stable )

have singel rear shock ( better stable and not easily stolen )

but that is just my view maybe some like that other , \.

try to buy one outrite-all cash no installment

then u can buy the cheapest insurance-3rd party

 

as under hire purchase, normally need at least 2nd party insurance...about 40% more then 3rd party

actually hor... i think alot of shops will do dat as they can earn more interest

so i guess it shouldnt be a prob... before going down call them to double confirm wats the minimum downpayment lo anyway u interested in the power abuser huh?
