Actually the ang mo's forum recommends that changing the bearing after every tires change.......................

From the pic, it looks the same as what my STx had gone thru. The part was rusty and my shaft bearing gave way in northern Thailand. Lucky the bike shop there can help me change the bearing else i would be expected to change the whole shaft. Those interested to see the pic cna pm me and i sent it to u..

So no matter its kawa or honda it will still happen.

at least you got a chance to repair your st1300.my shaft broke & melted a hole in my swingarm thus causing the bike to go up in flames.total loss.:cry:anyway my kawa gtr eta june.

im almost at 20k and checked the lube on the shaft and still has plenty plenty ley.

 

maybe needs a yearly check, mine's abt 7mths old.

Lube not really got use.. As with wheel bearing. Cos the one that gave way for mine was at the swing arm.. The whole swing arm has to be down to inspect the bearing.. This is going to be expensive 'labour' charges in singapore..

Think urs may be the bearing broke like mine (mine was almost broken) but urs completely.. And the engine contiune rev creating a high rev(drill effect) and sparks(metal rubbing) hence ur total lost..
