Dear all,

This is regarding the following post:

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/419043-Honda-NC700D-Intergra-DCT-Model

There is a guy on here who has advertised a bike that I am familiar with so when I see that he has lied about facts in the post and furthermore lied when directly asked a question if he is the first owner or not, I thought as a good citizen I should let you know the true facts, in case you are considering purchasing the bike.

It seems highly possible that he may be hiding other important facts for his own personal gain.

The Details of the bike are:

Vehicle No.: FBH1600X

Vehicle Make: HONDA

Vehicle Model: NC700D

Chassis No.:JH2RC62AXCK006265

Engine No.:RC61E5097254

Registration Date: 20 Mar 2013

Year Of Manufacture: 2012 (not 2013 as stated in his ad)

Number of Owners: 2 (not 1 as stated in his ad)

He bought this from the original owner called: Les, Mobile: 9850 5139 for around $12K as it was a fire sale. Les was an expat leaving Singapore and although he priced the bike at a reasonable $14K, this seller, called Edmund using two phone numbers: 8102 2843 and 8496 4426 was a little harsh knocking it down to 12K, taking advantage of Les's circumstances.

But Edmund, stating, "when I bought is close $24K" is just wrong. You were not even the original owner Edmund, why do you want to lie that you bought it for $24K? In fact, you actually bought it for half that price!

But the next bit of information is the most important for all:

The bike has been involved in a fall / accident. The following set of pictures will show this.

Bike from Rear:

1) You can see the numberplate has been deformed and the frame itself damaged enough to be out of alignment.

2) Also the right passenger footpeg has been deformed from the fall. Compare with the left side.

3) Also the front brake lever has been deformed from the fall. Compare with the left side.

IMG_8023.jpg

Bike from Front:

1) You can see the front brake lever has been deformed from the fall. Compare with the left side.

IMG_8024.jpg

Bike Exhaust Area:

1) The Exhaust itself has been damaged from the fall - part of the welding has been flattened.

2) The right passenger footpeg has been deformed from the fall.

IMG_8025.jpg

Bike Right Side Fairing:

1) The right side fairing below the footboard has been damaged from the fall. You can see deep scratches along the whole length of the fairing. Also there is damage to the footboard itself.

IMG_8026.jpg

I managed to get hold of these pictures because when Les originally advertised his bike, I went to view it and after seeing the condition and also the test ride didn't give me much confidence about the bike's handling, as it was making some strange mechanical sounds, so I decided against the purchase.

Here are Les's original advertisements advertised on 10 June 2014:

IMG_8022.jpg

If you are considering this bike, please do your due diligence checks before making any committment.

Moral of the story:

Don't lie when someone asks you if you're the original owner or not.

Don't lie that you bought it for $24K when you didn't!

cool, thanks for the info. ya, i also saw the expat post selling at 14k.

but of course if that current seller can make the profit, it's good as he found a good deal in the first place.

It looks Like the guy admitted he his the 2nd owner, he is also not saying HE paid 24k, he is saying that was the price of the bike new back the..

He brought the price down to 12k$? Isn't that called 'negotiation'? If the seller was in a rush to get rid of the bike fast he had to accept a lower price, that totally understandable.

The buyer made a good deal back then and if he finds someone willing to pay 17k then good on him. If he doesn't then he'll either keep the bike or lower the price.

It is a given there is always a risk in buying used bikes, I'm sure that's just me but, I don't see what the problem is here....

Bro, on the original ad here, and on sgbikez and on gumtree, all stated the actual words "when I bought is close 24k"

Of course he's just gone and edited all his adverts now because he's just been found out!

You can see he's edited it because at the base of his original post shows -> Last edited by Lau Teck Seng; 08-08-2014 at 03:14 PM.

And the question in the thread where he was asked if he was the first or second owner, he first stated this:

"What does: "1nd owner" mean? are you the first or second owner?"

" I'm the 1st owner bro. Sorry for typo error."

Now he's edited it and it states:

" I'm the 2nd owner bro. Sorry for typo error."

And again at the base of the post it states -> Last edited by Lau Teck Seng; 08-08-2014 at 03:14 PM.

We're not stupid. Of course anyone can change the records when he's been found out! But it's too late bro, too many people already know your game. You can't lie in this day. Everything is tracked. Just be honest in the first place.

luca9277 thanks for your comments - I am helping others to know more about this bike, I think it's only fair for people to know this info especially when it's to do with someone being dishonest from the outset - who knows what else he could be dishonest about? Or would you rather I just kept quiet and let an unsuspecting potential buyer buy a lemon? If you think I'm not being helpful, I shall take this post down.

Wow, thanks to the bro who brought this to our attention. Good thing he reported early, even the ad just came out and looks like one or two of our brothers already kena try to con by this seller. To this guy and any other ppl trying to hide the bad history of a bike, don't do it, for the sake of our safety. Riding is already risky enough so please, if you know the bike that you're selling has any safety issues, just say out if not on the advert but at least must say when the buyer comes to view. No point keeping quiet to make a few bucks then later your fellow rider has a fall because you know he's riding something that's not 100% safe. Like this leaking fork. Looks small but can be a big issue, if the fluid leaks on the brake pads, will not be able to brake well. Can you sleep at night knowing that a bro is waiting to have an accident coz you didn't tell him about that?

Also this biking community is a small one. Seems like everyone knows someone who knows someone that knows you! So pretty hard to hide things like this when a bike has a history of problems or any other bad history.

You can run but you can't hide, especially on our little island.

Hi Dicky, thank you for the info.

New owner is bad guy.

But I have some suggestion and question here.

Did you ask the owner "Les" about the true after you know the problem? And what he tell you?

Since you know the info early(because you saw the post is at JUN), why not Pre-alert others, until have people buy already and resell then you only mention?

If the new owner is not "edmund" and the person dun know what's the problem on the bike and just buy because the price is low, after that get in accident, then how?

How you know their deal at what price?

By the way. Thank you for the info.

Hi Hondalover,

Yes I did ask Les when I saw the damage and he did act blur and said that maybe someone push the bike over but at that time, I did not think he was purposely trying to hide the damages. Les was an old guy, I think around late 50s so I believed him when he said he didn't know the bike have damage. But for most of us who like to self maintain our bikes, we will surely see these damages when we are washing our bikes so now thinking about it, maybe he also tried to hide the bike's history. But seems like he was a nice old uncle who just wanna sell his bike because he's leaving SG so I didn't suspect anything bad. Anyway, when I see all those damage, even cheap price also didn't want to buy. I just wasn't comfortable with the bike. So I walked away.

About prewarning others - because I didn't suspect Les was purposely trying to hide anything so I didn't think I needed to warn others. Actually I didn't even notice the leaking fork, I only saw the damages on the right side. And I'm not usually such a busy body to go and spoil other people's sale - but this time I spoke up because this "Edmund" really tried to hide the facts and some more when asked directly a question and then he lied, then I thought that's too much already.

Lastly, I know the price they deal because Les called me last minute and asked me if I would like to buy at 12K because he gonna sell already to someone. Actually, now thinking about it, maybe the bike sold lower than 12K because why would he offer me at 12K if he already got another buyer at 12K? Anyway whatever the price, it's around 11-12K.

Well, I hope the new buyer of this bike will just get it fix it up, make sure it's safe and all should be ok.

This is just a lesson for the seller called "Edmund" to not lie to people in future.

@Dicky, thanks for bringing fellow brothers and sis attention's to this!

If anyone here reading this feels that Dicky is a kapo and/or busy body, just scram off.

The spirit of this forum promotes sharing, exchanging intels, mutual supports for the betterment

of fellow riders (especially newbies). Dicky had indirectly police the seller by uncovering his

plot for personal gain. Imagine that you are a newbie and purchased this bike via hire purchase,

what to come will be a 2-3 years financial commitment as well as additional burden of maintenance

cost on top of subjective personal safety compromised by unreliable mechanical parts.

Kudos to Dicky! This forum need more people like Dicky! Let's shake down scam-er and For Profit Seller!

Wow, thank you ellamcoy. I am really humbled by your support. Really helps to know that some people appreciate what we do when we spot something fishy. You're right, forums are the place for sharing knowledge, so I hope we all keep on doing this. Although I know that sometimes, people will add their emotions into threads especially when they're not happy about something so I have been trying to give just the facts and let others make their own mind up about the situation.

Yes, I didn't even think about that issue should the new buyer buy a bad bike via hire purchase, they're stuck with it unless they want to suffer a big early repayment fee if they want to sell it soon after buying.

As you know, the second hand bike market has recently been getting more flooded with overseas scammers trying to cheat us of our money, asking us to transfer money via western union to pay for shipping, etc. so we have to be more diligent when we come across what at first seems like 'bargains'.

If it is too good to be true, then it probably is! But more importantly, you must be even more careful when you come across these bargains and don't buy too quickly. Sometimes, the whole point of making something cheaper than usual is to make the buyer buy first, check later. And by then, it's usually too late.

Hope we all continue to keep our eyes open for such scammers and help each other.

You are correct!!!!.....I nearly got cheated because of overseas purchase. Ask a simple question like "Which Motor shop he bought the bike from" also cannot answer.

BEWARE!! of seller selling bike from overseas....

Must be very careful. Nowadays these overseas scammers are getting intelligent. Can even list COE date and the name of the motorcycle shop they "got" the bike from. But one telltale sign is the picture of the bike never got singapore licence plate.

yea I saw quite a lot on the bikemart section of the forum etc, I was just thinking, would like to make a suggestion, maybe the administrators of the forum could strengthen the regulations of sales of bikes on forum?? like checking regularly on sellers' background or bike's history or maybe have the seller post some proof if possible?? afterall when it comes to selling of bike, it involves a large amount of money, have personally seen a lot of such direct sales issues on the forum, anyway we are all here to share and perhaps making better suggestions to improve?

its been so long...
