hi bros...im currently using ohlins rear shock on my bike...i would like a slightly higher rear...i don't find the shock soft though...it dips just a wee bit when i sit...so i tink the weight adjustment is ok..

just curious...wat is the ohlins black dial near the exhaust pipe for? can it be used to adjust the shock to be a bit higher? if so, how to adjust?

thanks!

suddenly another thing comes to mind...wats the difference between a bike n car cooling system?

seems like bike will heat up fast during jams but will return back to normal when on the move...for cars...it seems tat they can be stuck in jams for hours and yet the temp indicator remains steady...even when i got stuck in the worst jam i ever experienced when driving on the NSH...easily the worst jam compared to any of the causeway/checkpoint jams i experienced...yet the car temp indicator remains steady...

can't understand

i can only answer this

some big bikes (and small ones like TA150) have radiator, and scooters too. cos the natural aspiration not enough to cool the engine sufficiently

small ones like ta200 dun require

say if you dun move, or get stuck in jam, bike's heat is dissipated via the radiator only, so the heat goes up from the engine + radiator.

once on the move, the radiator and engine is further cooled by the wind.

cars nowadays are heavily dependant on the radiator. if coolant is constantly maintained, radiator condition is not worn off yet, it's sufficient to cool the engine before the hot point. temp gauge measures the temp in the engine, not in the engine compartment, so the people outside, infront of your car will suffer.

a badly maintained radiator and not enough coolant, you can see the temp gauge at red

dunno if i am making any sense or not.

Some aftermarket models have a ride height adjuster. As Ohlins makes a huge variation of shocks specific to models, you might want to check it up on the manufacturer website.

The black dial is most probably the remote preload adjuster. Yes, it will raise up the shock, but it is not meant for adjusting the ride height. The function of preload is to set the rear suspension with a suitable level of sag, so that the shock can extend, say, when u go over a pothole. If you increase the preload to raise the bike, ending up with insufficient sag, ride will become very harsh.

Cars have huge radiator fans that work almost 100% of the time when not moving. Due to electrical power constraints, bikes cannot afford such a system, therefore they depend on the fan to keep things under 100degC rather than maintain at 90degC.

high chance it could be a preload adjuster.. to make compensation if you are carrying extra load like having a pillion..

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

Since ohlins shock was not specify, this is the general answer.

You can't increase the shock length because it is determined by the length of the strut. However, you can ride higher by increasing the pre-load, the compromise is that the shock will have less travel.

That dial could be the damper adjuster.

Maybe u can go Sporting to adjust for u.

OT, does Ohlins rear shock have more ride height changes option compared to normal stock rear shock? as in more ranges than stock?

Thanks!
