Hi there guys,

Just got my RXZ. for the first few days, i've been riding at 4k - 6k, can reach 100km/h. But after 4 - 5 days, i need to hit 8k - 11k RPM to hit 100km/h. If i keep it at 4k - 6k, max only 70km/h.

8k constant all the way from CTE/SLE. I've very scared... Will the motor burn out? Whats the problem with my bike?

Sounds like there is a loss of compression in the engine causing the power lost...if I am correct your piston is wearing out...other than that I couldn't think of anything else already...unless it is caused by you yourself for staying at the wrong gear...meaning you might forgot to upshift...

Is your bike new or 2nd hand?

Cheapest to change the rear spocket gear from the original 46 teeths to 38 or lower, u will be able to cruise at lower rpm with abit penalty for pickup speed

It can't be that i forgot the upshift, mine model can only up until the 5th gear. No sixth gear. Its a 2nd hand bike. Also, in the morning, it is very very hard to get it started. many a times i have to run to start it. And my motor keeps dying too at traffic light.

go to any bike shop and ask them to change the sprockets to original size, front and rear, they know what to do, also change ur chain too.

i change last time and got top speed of 140km/h

clutch plates wont affect cruise speed. its a royal pain when shifting, but when you are cruising worn out plates wont be too much of an issue untill your top speed drastically drops.

never tried this before... but to check if its compression ratio you can try putting a small amount of diesel in your engine. If its poor compression, the more viscous diesel will seal the O-Rings, and improve compression... for a short while. dont put too much... try a short squirt from pump station, and the rest your favourite petrol.

if pumping some diesel makes it better... its time to overhaul.

Bro, my is a FD plate RXZ, 1985, at first it only can up till 5 gears, I believe later model RXZ can go 6 gears, about 2 months plus ago, I change my clutch plates set ( 6 pieces for $72, 1 piece - $12 ) in Yishun IP and the bike can go up to 6th gears !!!! I tried a few times counting the gears up when I ride n it really can go 6th gears, so maybe u can go put in another clutch plate so can cruise at 6th gear which will result in lower rpm, plus if u change the rear sprocket I said earlier to lesser teeth, 38 or lower, it's even better unless u prefer very fast pickup.

Listening to what u said about your bike condition, at first at 4-6k rpm and a few days later 8-11k rpm, there could be something wrong with the piston, maybe crack and lost of compression, or the piston ring not sealing. RXZ got no valves, unlike 4 stroke bike, lucky. U can do a simple check on RXZ, removed spark plug connector first, next get 1 ratchet and correct size socket and open up the top cylinder block cover, I believed there are 4 bolts there, removed the block cover, put one side, next if the piston is at below, try to kick start abit to let the piston come up. Inspect the piston head for crack or chip off at the circumfence:thumb:

Could be your clutch plates wearing out.

Most logical explanation by far.

The purpose of the clutch plates is to transfer the drive from the crankshaft to the gear drivetrain. A slipping clutch will result in the drive being lost so engine rpm does not match bike speed in any gear... like riding with the clutch half pulled in.

If there was anyting wrong with the piston or rings... you won't even be able to hit the high rpms in any gear for that matter. Changing sprockets don't even help.

Go change your clutch plates. They are probably all worn down.

I sincerly encourage bro asmi to spend just 10 mins remove 4 bolts to check the piston condition, no harm right ??? and it's free then to go straight to replace the clutch plates set unless to him $$$ no problem but I believe it is or he will get a brand new bike than a old RXZ. What bro Raptor explaination on clutch plates purpose is correct, but "........They are probably all worn down" Its only probably.

You knows guys, i think this forum is really cool with knowledgeable people.

Tmr i'm going down to the bike shop as i still have warranty. Firstly i'm very new, and i don't know where is spark plug is, nor caburator.. So he will check on everything.

Thanks guys.. really thanks..

If u were to follow his advise...do it with someone experience...dont be like me last time...trying to explore the bike myself by opening the block and see the piston...:cheeky: but kinda exciting bout it when i manage to open...now the trouble...after fixing it back...bike sound totally diff...kinda loud and echoing like that..haha...i know something is not right for sure...gamble and ride it to the nearest bike shop....

reason...block never close tightly and the carb and the air filter not connected properly...hehe...

Lucky for me nothing really serious...since then i kinda phobia to do bike stuff alone...at least with exp people ard...they can spot ur mistake...:thumb:

TBH since TS is new to bikes... i would advise finding a knowledgable friend to tag along. New bikers = carrots on the chopping block. :/
