Hi guys,

Can anyone advise what are the basic maintenance that I should do for my wave? What are the parts that i should change?

when buy engine oil at the patrol station shop, how to identify the suitable engine oil for my wave?

What type of lubricant i should buy? how often i should lubricate?

How often i should change spark plug and break?

Thanks.

basic regular maintenance is change EO, spark plug, clean/lube chain, check tyre pressure and not forgetting wash bike.

every 12K change air filter, get ur carb wash at the same time since need to remove fairing... btw dirty air filter is related to dirty carb.

engine oil must be 4T or 'engine oil for 4-stroke motorbike'

spark plug change every 1 or 2 EO change.

wat do u mean "change spark plug and break"?

hey, there's a problem wid my bike, i juz did full service in malaysia, but nw, i have problems starting, like when it start for 1 sec, then die a few times, then after it starts, the throttle response very slow, like when i move off, muz turn quite alot, then suddenly after 3000 rpm, the bike surges forward... when i slow down at hump, and want to accelerate again, the bike jerk jerk like wan to die liddat.. summore only 1st gear..when idling, i open throttle full, it slowly go until 3000 rpm, then only all the power come after that, wat do u think is the problem?

I mean after sometimes, will the break worn out? do i need to change them? I know how to change EO but donot know how to change spark plug. Can give some guidance? :) How much pressure you pump for tyre?

Thanks.

break? u mean brakes? brake pads will definitely wear out aft some time... there r 3 grooves on stock brake pads, if those grooves r gone, its time to replace them... replace them as a pair. rear drum brake i dunno how to check...can any xpert here help?

change EO very simple, jus unsrew a bolt underneath and let old oil drain out then unsrew dip-stick and pour in new EO, some say pour 0.7L, 0.8L or whole bottle 1L, i myself cant tell the difference. but best let mechanic change EO cos they will dispose the used oil properly, save the earth!

spark plug also easy... u see a black cable with rubber cover on right side of engine? pull tat out and u see the spark plug. then use the 'special tool' tat came wif ur wave to unscrew the old spark plug and replace.

tyre pressure i pump 200 frnt, 225 rear... up to ur personal preference actually but too soft will slow down ur bike.

Change the sprocket? Actually the bike has got no power thru out the journey. So difficult to get it past 80km/h. If changing a bigger sprocket helps, I will do juz tat. Any idea how much issit?

chain + spocket maybe cost around SG$30-40 wif a normal chain, size 428

for spocket if u want, maybe u can try 13 for front , 36 for back. or 14 wif 35.

i set of sprockets with gold chain cost ard 40+ bucks in sg.... but i dont think is ur sprocket problem... stock bike comes with size 34t... and it can easily hit 100km... urs can onli hit 80km and u said it's difficult to hit 80km...even if u change ur sprockets to a new set, u might feel no difference in it... so... i think u better check with the bike shop people whom u can trust

My bike still can go up to 90km/h or 100km/h but its juz tat i feel the bike is so stressed when i bring the speed up. Lack of power.

If this is the case can I change my sprocket?

Posted

yup, since u say can hit 90-100km but feel no power then i think its not sprocket prob. i think its engine prob... maybe compression drop due to faulty valve. best get mechanic to check

im puzzled, pls enlighten me, how do u know the rpm of the wave???

fyi, 36T spocket will reduce your top speed to just almost 100km/h so think carefully is that wat u want.
