Hello,

A dear friend and fellow biker recently passed away in a motorcycle accident. He was knocked down by another motorist. Police are investigating so we do not know the details yet. The police investigation will take a few months.

I'm helping the family with his insurance claims. For his death and personal accident claims we know what to do.

But is there anything the family should do with regards to motor insurance claims? Scared if we wait too long the claims eligibility will expire. His bike was under NTUC.

Would also appreciate any general advice too.

Thanks!

First must make accident report with ntuc.

Thereafter, you have the option of either allowing ntuc to do the claim on the late motorcyclist behalf (supposed to be complimentary service with third party insurance), or engage private lawyer to sue the driver's insurer.

Personally for such a serious case, and assuming driver definitely at fault, i'd go for private lawyer. Insurer does not always act in client's best interest, plus lawyer fee likely included in compensation from other side if you win.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

sorry to hear about the fatal accident, and my condolences to your friend's family.

I would go for private lawyer provided the motorist is at fault

Proceeds with claims immediately, don't wait for TP to get a verdict for claims, they are rather slow and ineffective unless giving you a fine.

Get a lawyer, the lawyer might be able to put pressure so things will go faster and smoother.
