i'll modify it abit to make things clear.

 

 

 

we should perhaps just combine it with a already existing similar thread, just like the lastest news section? that way, it'll not be messy, no threads closed, similar thread will be combined as one. just my suggestion, hope it clears up on your side, least you think otherwise.

Actually not just that thread, also read a few other threads, but I cannot remember everything together la. I becoming as old as you liao.

 

The purpose of it is to highlight that the newbie thread is becoming a very thick pile of user manual, up to an extent that it's becoming a prick to find something inside. And things which are not.

 

I'm proposing that since these issues keep re-surfacing, we might as well solve it once and for all.

 

1. Start a newbie readme thread. Educate the new people what to ask and what not to ask, also at the same time show everybody (including the oldies) the acceptable and un-acceptables in this forum.

 

2. I dun think digging into the Newbie thread to find the issues and sticky-ing them is any helpful. But starting from somewhen a new person ask a question, the sticky can start from there. Topics such as "How do I know what to check when buying a new/used Phantom" and the you knows...

 

3. Really, everyone should try to stick to the topic and refrain from sidetracking. Sometimes it's inevitable to due to related topics, albeit remotely, but if everyone tries hard enough, the threads dun become too thick and turns into a dinosaur.

 

Note that the issue now is to control the starting of new threads which have oredi been answered, so if we turn those into stickies I think it's a better help than asking someone to search through old threads and read through a thick pile.

 

The idea of combining a new thread into an existing one works also, but eventually any good information will provide for more thickness and get losted inside somewhere.

 

Might as well do it better? A Phantom, although shoudn't be ridden by newbies just after they get their license, are very well-liked by them (me included).

 

BTW, it's very hard to search for topics that has less than 4 letters, so topics like ABS, ERP, ASP, LTA, very hard to search la. (it was very very difficult the last time I tried, search tells me cannot search below 4 letters)

 

Anyway that's my view.

 

Plus, by right we are all old enough (since we already got our licenses, says so by someone I forgot who), so if a shop chops you like a carrot head, kpkb once enough, dun everytime kpkb. Doesn't reflect well. If a shop chop your head off clean and sweet, is also you own time own target let it chop, cos can always say no and find another. (Yes, I am talking about koon, cos I didn't gena chop when I frequent there for two years)

I agree with this point... I frequent both and find both to be good shops with pros and cons. (Yes the mechs at planet do screw things up to). So I hope planet supporters will from now on stop being biased in the comments. Be constructive in recommending which shop to go to rather than run the other down.
