anyone knows the actual distance (roughly?) and the time it takes to get there?

Rough distance is ard 450 km one way; on your RXZ it should be around 5~6 hrs of traveling at comfortable pace with stops. As for the route its quite simple actually; after the Sg Besi toll watch out for Cheras/Kuantan exit about 3 km down the road, then its straight all the way for about 20km.. you should see Genting Highlands signboard then.. Have fun!!:cheer:

Just to update, I stayed in riviera bay resort in malaka, big roomy place, a bit old but clean, near to the beach, can be recommended. KL I tried lanai gurney serviced apt, can NOT recommend this one, the apt was furnished with old cheaplooking stuff, and bathroom not as clean as I expected from a serviced apt, underground parking area full of waterleaking spots, more or less about the standard I expected only from a 20bux a night motel.

Intend to visit this places something in Jan with 8 family members. Or should I just book some hotel rooms instead?

For accomodation in Melaka, I would strongly recommend Kancil Guest House, owned and run by a very friendly singaporean biker along Jalan Parameswara.

There's a 'garden' at the back where you can bike your bikes and it is locked up, so no worries about your bikes getting stolen. He parks his bike (a shadow) there too.

Though it's only a hostel and not some fanciful 5-stars hotel, the rooms are very decent and clean. There's even a back-yard area where you can sit around and relax and smoke. Lots of foreign back-packers' choice too.

Costs only RM38 per day/night.

In Melaka, some of the grander hotels offer pretty reasonable prices and secure, though outdoor, parking.

Me and a fren just came back from Melaka over the New Year weekend.

Stayed at this Grand Hotel International Melaka along Tun Sri Lanang Road, within walking distance to the city centre. Should say its between 3-4 star.

RM155 for a standard twin-sharing room with breakfast. Parking is unfortunately open-air, but its right beside the security guard's post. The guards are pretty friendly and one even reminded me to lock up my bike.

Hi, just came back from penang end of last mth. There's lots of hotels in the city and along the beaches at the north. U can check the room rates at asiarooms.com. I went there on wkdays and not peak seasons so i got my room for RM138 twin sharing (add RM40 for triple sharing) including breakfast for all. Hotel name is Crown Jewel located at Tg Bungah beach. I give this hotel a 2 star.

Most hotels do have parking facilities. My frd from penang say that's a safe place to go, not like JB. But still need to play safe. The carpark was at basement and v quiet at night. We requested to park our bikes outside the lobby.

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB
