Chain Wax Vs Lube

rubber will harden and crack if soak in oil for too long..

i dun noe the rubber quality is the same as rubber seal in the chain..

maybe the rubber seal in the chain may harden and crack, damaging the seal..

i dun noe wat oil is most suitable, but i using mineral oil to lube my chain..

cheap cheap..

3 bucks for 1 litres..

the chain hav being on the bike for 12 months..

still going strong.. haven tighten before since change of the chain..

but going for tighten this weekend..

 

Correct me if i am wrong, the suspension plays a part whether how fast the chain loosens. I find that after tightening my back suspension on my previous S4, i did not need to tighten the chain for quite some time. THe suspension actually takes more load when going over bumps instead of stretching the chain every time.

i have been using maxima chain wax too

i lube normally once per 2 weeks but there are still signs of rust

why does my chain rust so easily?

 

Qns:

 

1) What degreaser do you guys use to clean the chain before apply lube?

 

2) How often do you guys lube?

 

3) Where is the place i can buy the wax again how much?

I spray my maxima chain wax after each petrol top up at about 270km. When i wash my bike, i just spray soap water only, no degreaser. Degreaser i used once every 6 months when the build up is too heavy. So far my X ring chain lasted 16 months, only adjusted once. At this rate, I am very sure it will last another 16 months; even though I torture my chain alot - always 1st person to leave traffic light.

BTW anyone knows where to buy Castrol Chain Wax? I can't remember where i saw it, i thot of trying it coz maxima chain wax is too ex, even though it is good.

i used chain wax by accident this one time & since then been using them. chain lube tends to flings & dirty the rims. Chain wax is better is lasts a little longer to my opinion...& not that fling-ing too...

That stuff gives all chainwax a bad rep It's like spray paint that doesn't dry completely.

Do i need to clean the chain before using the wax? I have not clean or lube my chain for more than 1500km, is that alright?

If u have the time, its always good to clean ur chain 1st but i tink most of us just whack and spray them over ur existing chain. It still helps to extend ur chain life though.

 

For me, Maxima chain wax anytime!
