think changing the brake patches is like around $20 per brake caliper.

front brake got 2 caliper so must double the price. @ HKL

i also got this sounds even thought i had just changed my brake patches.

some say its normal to have some metal sounds when braking, o_O

some say its dust got into the patches, o_O

some say its my brake disc problem .... o_O

and its go on and on :faint: :faint: :faint: .....

i asked mechanic, they say its ok, so i just live with it... :cheeky:

so best, just go down to bike shop check with the expert ......

till now, luckily to say, nothing had happened :cheeky:

if u all experience sound when braking, especially new brake pads...try to do this.. take a few drops of engine oil or any oil.. and rub it on the brake disc.. check the road is clear, then ride and press the brake on and on.. u will feel braking resume duty after few traffic lights.. do not speed and beware of other vehicles around u.. cheers !

damn dangerous lah! wah lan eh...

anyway, some ah ma remedy is to rinse the pads with alcohol and try again. alcohol will displace the water and its dust from the brake pads. if that fails, u might wanna take out and sand the brake pad lightly, might be some chips stuck in it.

the alcohol works for my old daystar lah..

Frankly, this is the most contradicting thing I've ever heard. Never allow your brake pads to come into contact with any type of oil if possible. So, I don't know why are you recommending this dangerous method?

if u put oil over there , do u think the oil will stay there forever? remember, its in between the brake pads and the brake disc.. i"ve learnt this technique from senior riders.. sometimes u cannot follow everything from the book.. u got to do trial and error yourself.. u decide after the test.. if its good , then u practise it and promote it around.. The theory of putting abit of oil is abit true, coz when the heat(must be very2 hot) is up,the oil will evaporate.

The other fault is "pad glazing".This is due to improper running in of the brake pads. As you can see,the resin binder holds the pad material together, when excessive heat(during running in stage) is present,it causes the resin binders to liquified thus the binder rises to the surface of the pads to form a glaze.

This can be removed by sanding it and clean away the dust using brake contact cleaner.(Please do not use air gun to blow the dust away,u'll die faster)

During changing of brake pad ? Did your mech slightly use sand paper to sand ur rotors ?

Its always ideal to sand on the rotor to clean the previous brake dust etc that stuck onto the disc. I forget whats the techinque called.

I have it too currently as my brake pads are new....but not as loud as before. As I further my mileages, when the first few layers of the ceramic pads got eaten up and sits well upon braking....the sound will dissipate...:p

hi guys i just came back from Unique motor and enquired bout the sound problem. take a look at the position of the rear brake callipers on a spec3, compared to other specs. spec 1 and 2 mainly face this problem cos the postioning somehow caused the brakepad not to wear properly and hence did not conform to the brake disc, so the brake disc also kena scratched. the metal sound that is so common among many specs is coming from the brakepad which rubs onto disc brakes. That is y spec 3 the position is diff cos honda decided to rectify it. the solution is to change brakepad and disc brake, but for spec1 and 2, the problem will persist after a few yrs cos of the positioning of the caliper.

No need to sand the disc/rotors just clean with brake contact cleaner will do..One more advice,do not use degreaser to clean the brake pads or rotors, why?.Degreasers do not evaporate well like brake contact cleaner does.
